How do I launch the Youtube app in Windows Phone 8 without going to the browser. Basically I am currently using the following code and it takes me to the default browser instead of opening up the Youtube app:
Dim webBrowserTask As New WebBrowserTask()
webBrowserTask.Uri = New Uri("http://www.youtube.com/embed/3aP3KBsh3Y8",UriKind.Absolute)
webBrowserTask.Show()
I want to be able to launch the Youtube app directly. So far I haven't been able to come up with a solution.
There is a slightly better way. Use WebBrowserTask but give it URL in this format
String.Format("vnd.youtube:{0}?vndapp=youtube",youTubeId)
where youTubeId is the ID of the youtube video (3aP3KBsh3Y8 in your case)

I am trying to develop an app that can choose a video from the iphone and save the url (or string representation of the url) so the user can select the video from the app (by selecting an assigned video title) without having to use the videopicker again.
I have implemented the videopicker and can print the url e.g.:
file:///private/var/mobile/Containers/Data/PluginKitPlugin/3BBCBF37-7659-439E-A3D6-4390D751F29D/tmp/trim.D973E0CE-468C-4B5F-B5FC-63FA1F647175.MOV
But I can't find a way to use this string to select the video. Can someone help me with this? Thanks.
I'm trying to upload a video using the API. I can successfully authenticate, upload and create a video and receive a video id. But when I query the processing status using https://api.dailymotion.com/video/{VideoId}?fields=status%2Ctitle%2Cpublishing_progress URL, it keeps returning "publishing_progress": 7 no matter how long I wait.
If I try to upload the same video using the website directly it will process it just fine.
I wonder if anyone else has encountered this issue and know how to solve it.
I think there is an issue with the source URL you associated to the video.
Have you correctly filled the URL field at the video creation (STEP 4.) with the URL returned by the API when you uploaded your video (on STEP 3.)?
If so, you would encourage you to contact our support with more details to dig further into possible issues
I have a local video link, and i want when the user press the button -> show twitter app with my video and title there (without using UIActivityViewController), just by pressing the button
You have to choose which way you want to go to upload a video, i.e. post a tweet with just that title you've mentioned.
Option 1
Use the HTTP API and create a URLRequest that contains the video as 'attachment'. You have to handle authentication first or the request will most likely fail.
Option 2 (Not really an option anymore)
Another way would be the iOS SDK provided, as given in the other example here. Problem is: there is no longer an official Twitter SDK for iOS. You could try your luck with the archived OpenSource SDK but maintainability is pretty decent with this.
I see YouTube app updated new function to share videos with the url like this:
https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=8A940MXKFmQ
My app is using YouTube API/videos/list to get video informations and it required the Video ID field.
How can we get youtube video id from the url above.
Thanks
This is maybe not a good way to do it, but since there seems to be no API for that, check this:
https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/commit/4080530624eda994d535e1a01c38ddd6d9aa3805
What they do is fetching the content and search for the meta tag with the name videoId. Again: Not a good way, maybe this approach stops working in a month or a year or maybe never.
I have a desktop/mobile web app that needs to display a pdf stream on the target device. I now have this working on the desktop using the jquery dialog. For mobile tho...my html View page has the following link:
View PDF
And that correctly takes me into the Controller Action:
public ActionResult PdfView(string id = "")
{
PayStubDataEntity ps = PayStubAccess.GetPayStubByID(new Guid(id), new Guid(Session["Session_Application_UserID"].ToString()));
WebHelper.SetHeadersForDownload(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response, "application/pdf", "PayStub.pdf", false);
MemoryStream pdfMemoryStream = SendPayStubToBrowserAsPdf(ps);
//WebHelper.SendFile(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response, "application/pdf", "PayStub.pdf", false, pdfMemoryStream);
return File(pdfMemoryStream, "application/pdf");
}
But nothing ever shows up on my iphone emulator (electric plum). No error messages. I am not sure where the output s/b going or how to view it? Any ideas would be most appreciated.
We have this same issue with android phones and there can be two issues going on. If the website uses ssl and the phone you are on does not accept it as a valid ssl, it will say downloading pdf in the manager, but it never completes a download.
The second issue is the file you are sending to the phone needs to be named in order to download properly to the phone.
Ex: return File(pdfMemoryStream, "application/pdf", fileDownloadName:"PayStub.pdf");
I would suggest using Google Chrome for phone emulation. When you change the settings, it will behave similarly to the phone and you can debug easily.
For example, when I set Google Chrome to the mobile phone user agent Android 4.0.2, it will download the pdf, instead of displaying within the web browser. When it does that, I know it is working locally. It also has iPhone emulation.
