from extconf.rb:22:in `<main>'
The Ruby Racer requires libv8 ~> 3.11.8
to be present on your system in order to compile
and link, but it could not be found.
In order to resolve this, you will either need to manually
install an appropriate libv8 and make sure that this
build process can find it. If you install it into the
standard system path, then it should just be picked up
automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to pass some extra
flags to the build process as a hint.
If you don't want to bother with all that, there is a
rubygem that will do all this for you. You can add
following line to your Gemfile:
gem 'libv8', '~> 3.11.8'
We hope that helps, and we apologize, but now we have
to push the eject button on this install.
thanks,
The Mgmt.

So it seems that there is now a known problem that has no work around that i know of
https://github.com/cowboyd/therubyracer/issues/215
I had the same problem and tried one of the suggestions (use the known working therubyracer):
# Gemfile
gem 'therubyracer', '0.10.2', :platforms => :ruby
That's it. I can deploy to Heroku again.
You don't need to include therubyracer et.al. any more.
from: https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/rails-asset-pipeline
therubyracer
If you were previously using therubyracer or therubyracer-heroku,
these gems are no longer required and strongly discouraged as these
gems use a very large amount of memory.

BUNDLED WITH
1.16.1
run bundle update on your local repo and upload those changes to heroku.
I would uninstall the nokogiri gem and then reinstall it and try bundle install again.
If that doesn't work you can try running
bundle lock --update=nokogiri
bundle install
If neither of those work I've seen that downgrading bundler to version 1.14.6 might do the trick.
Hope this helps
If you look in vendor/bundle/ruby/<ruby version no>/gems there should be nokogiri-1.6.7.2 but you need nokogiri-1.8.2
I've resolved this issue in the past by:
cd vendor/bundle/ruby; rm -rf <ruby version nos>
and then run bundle install again.
Doing a rails deployment, when I try to push to Heroku I get the following seemingly contradictory error which both states that it searched for and failed to find SQLite and that I need to install it, and that it found SQLite and thus rejected the push.
I followed Heroku's suggested steps for resolving this error to no avail. I have also tried the suggestion of specifying SQLite for development and testing environments only, yielding the same error. I've checked the Gemfile.lock to ensure no other gems have an SQLite dependency. After each change I bundled, added/committed the code to git and then tried pushing to Heroku--I cannot get this error to change.

Bundle complete! 14 Gemfile dependencies, 59 gems now installed.
Use `bundle show [gemname]` to see where a bundled gem is installed.
Heroku runs uses PG for DB.
In your gem file under outside the "development and test do" add the gem PG and move the SQL Gem into your development section.
Push and commit then deploy to heroku.
Once deployed do "heroku run rake DB migrate" and that should get your DB up and running.
Hi everyone I recieve the following error when trying to push my app to my heroku. I have tried uninstalling the sqlite gem but it does not seem to work. Any suggestions? Here is my heroku logs:

Sorry for all the code, but I am frustrated that I can't find the error. Thanks again.
Best,
Eric
Run bundle update and commit again before pushing
Looks like Gemfile.lock has sqllite from your development group in your gemfile. You could try:
bundle install --without development
and committing that Gemfile.lock
Better would be to just remove sqllite as a development dependency.
When I run the command "git push -f heroku", I get the following problem:

error: failed to push some refs to 'git#heroku.com:tummystuffer.git'
So I added the gem 'geocoder' inside of my Gemfile, removed Gemfile.lock, ran "bundle install", "git add", "git commit", and pushed again, but got the same exact error.
I tried to solve the problem from this: heroku push rejected, failed to compile Ruby/rails app, but still gave me the same error.
I've ran "gem cleanup" and ran "gem update" as well, but did not work.

Any help will be appreciated.
The error states:
You are trying to install in deployment mode after changing your Gemfile. Run bundle install elsewhere and add the updated Gemfile.lock
to version control.
This basically means you've either not committed your Gemfile.lock, or have not run the bundle install command, which basically rebuilds Gemfile.lock. There's now a conflict which you'll have to resolve using bundle install on your development environment:
$ bundle install
$ git add .
$ git commit -a -m "Geocoder"
$ git push -f heroku
I had the same problem. A simple bundle install solved the problem for me.
After bundle install, git add . and git commit, I pushed the code to heroku master and it worked!
$ git push -f heroku master
I was actually able to solve the issue. I found out I was trying to push the project to another branch (not the master branch). I solved the issue by merging the branch with master branch and pushed it again.
It's an old thread but still relevant... I solved this by doing:
1) in the terminal create a new branch fixes
git checkout -b fixes
2) Delete gemfile.lock
3) In the gemfile replace gem 'squlite3' and gem 'pg' with this
group :development, :test do
gem 'sqlite3'
end
group :production do
gem 'pg', '0.20.0'
end
4) run these commands in terminal
bundle update
bundle install --without production
git add .
git commit "Update files for heroku"
git checkout master
git merge fixes
git push -f heroku master
I'm trying to push an app to heroku and am getting the below error message. i've seen some of the other posts on this topic and I don't see away to fix it. i don't have sqlite3 referenced anywhere in the application nor do I have it as a gem in my own system. thoughts?
