I am installing MVC 4 on a box with an up to date VS 2010 and get NuGet install errors. The NuGet installed already is the newest available. I have tried installing MVC 4 with both NuGet installed already and not installed.
The error asks for NuGet.msi, but I have been unable to find that.
Are there any known issues that could cause this?
We also had problems with nuget update. This fix help us: Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Hotfix available

Also you can try to install MVC 4 with Microsoft Web Platform Installer after uninstalling Nuget.

I'm trying to install gacutil in order to remove some assemblies from the GAC. My understanding is that it's included with Visual Studio, so I installed Visual Studio Community Edition 2019. gacutil.exe does not seem to be included with the installation. What am I missing?
I had the same issue and was able to fix it by installing the .NET Framework 4.6.1 SDK component shipped with VS 2019 Community.
In which Workload of the Visual Studio 2017 Community 15.9 installation would I find the VS2017 BuildTools component?
I am looking at the workloads in the installer options and there seems not to be any workload that has such a thing.
I even searched in the component in the Individual Components tab also but couldn't find anything matching the exact string.
The reason I am looking for it is that when I try to build the source code for ASP.NET MVC v5.2.6, I get the error message as follows.
> build
Could not find MSBuild.exe. Please install the VS2017
BuildTools component or a workload that includes it.
*** BUILD FAILED **
I had written to the ASP.NET MVC team earlier about this message before I had installed Visual Studio 2017. I had had just Visual Studio 2019 then and they asked that I install Visual Studio 2017.
I already have MS Build at various locations. I had multiple versions of MSBuild even before having installed VS 2017.
Build Tools for Visual Studio 2017 is still available as an online installer. You can get the current version here: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/thank-you-downloading-visual-studio/?sku=BuildTools&rel=15.
I developed an ASP.Net MVC web application and It's almost completed. After That, I updated Bootstrap through NuGet package manager to Bootstrap latest stable version 4.3.1 Update was successfully completed. But after the migration following errors are occurred.
Error Build:Cannot find name 'Record'.
Error Build:Cannot find name 'undefined'.
To solve that I installed TypeScript for Visual Studio 2015. Then the above error solved and the following error occurred.
Severity Code Description Project File Line Suppression State
Error The build task could not find node.exe which is required to run
the TypeScript compiler. Please install Node and ensure that the
system path contains its location. ABH.SW.HotelManagement
How can I solve this? I tried to google it for the past 2 days but I wasn't able to find any solution
This is the only post for this problem, so I'll do my bit for those who use Bootstrap 4.3.1, TypeScript, and VS2015.
First, once you create the project and are about to install Bootstrap 4.3.1 through NuGet, don't let Visual Studio manage TypeScript Typings for you. Check no.
Once Bootstrap and stuff is installed, clean the solution: right click on your solution -> clean solution
Next, open NuGet console (Tools → NuGet Package Manager → Package Manager Console), and install TypeScript 3.0 using this command:
Install-Package Microsoft.TypeScript.MSBuild -Version 3.0.0
Close Visual Studio, open it again, and that's it. Took for me a lot of research to find out that several TypeScript versions cause a lot of conflicts and 3.0 is one of those that actually work.
I had the same issue while trying to update to Bootstrap 4 from Visual Studio 2015. What fixed it for me was installing Typescript 2.2 for Visual Studio 2015 (https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=TypeScriptTeam.TypeScript22forVisualStudio2015). You may need to uninstall previous versions of Typescript Tools for VS2015 from Programs and Features.
I think Bootstrap 4.3.1 , Typescript , VS2015 has some issues with each other.

"MSBuild is now installed in a folder under each version of Visual Studio." However, I do not want to install a full VS on the server. "MSBuild is now available as part of the .NET Core SDK."
Now that I've installed the .Net Core 2.1 SDK (and the 4.7.2 Framework), what is the path to msbuild.exe?
MSBuild.exe 15 was found after installing the VS Build Tools with no additional packages selected in the install interface.
Edit: Updated link above to go to older downloads. Expand 2017 panel, click Download, login with a Microsoft account, then you will see Build Tools for Visual Studio 2017 (version 15.9) in the list of available downloads.
Edit: increased minor version to 9 to reflect the latest of major version 15.

Installation of MvcSiteMapProvider MVC4 fails when trying to install using Visual Studio 2013 Express edition.
It installs fine in Visual Studio 2012.
The error message I'm getting is:
Error: "Updating Microsoft.AspNet.Razor 3.0.0 to Microsoft.AspNet.Razor 2.0.3
My quess is that Visual Studio 2013 will not allow Microsoft.AspNet.Razor 3.0.0 to be overwritten by Microsoft.AspNet.Razor 2.0
Has anyone else had issues with MvcSiteMapProvider using VS 2013?
The original package for the MVCSitemapProvider has been marked as obsolete.
To Install the MvcSiteMapProvider, run the following command in the Package Manager Console.
install-package mvcsitemapprovider.mvc[X]
the [X] is what Mvc framework your targeting Ie MVC5 would be: install-package mvcsitemapprovider.mvc5.
