AutoComplete does not kick in when first character is 0 - jquery-ui

Does anyone know why my AutoComplete is not working when the first character I type is 0 (zero)? For debugging purposes I setup my AC to just tell me a row was found or not, and it seems that for any character I type as the first character it tells me so, except 0. I have to type in a second character after 0 for it to kick in and start working. It's as if the minLength attribute is 2 when the first char is 0. Has anyone run into or heard of this and know how to fix it? Here is my code:
//AutoComplete code in question
$(function() {
var itemcode_ac = {
source: "/webservices/whs_bincodeAC.php",
select: function(event, ui) {
$('#txtBin').val(ui.item.value);
getWhsInfo();
},
minLength: 1
}
$('#txtBin').autocomplete(itemcode_ac);
});
whs_bincodeAC.php:
<?php
if(isset($_GET["term"]) && !empty($_GET["term"])) {
include_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/path/to/dbConnect.php';
$term = mysql_real_escape_string(trim($_GET["term"]));
//wildcard appended here for parameterized query (MySqli)
$term .= "%";
$query = "SELECT DISTINCT BinCode, ItemCode, ItemName, WhsCode, DataAsOfDate FROM whse_tbl
WHERE BinCode LIKE '$term' or ItemCode LIKE '$term' ORDER BY BinCode LIMIT 0, 10";
$res = mysql_query($query);
//This is the debug code I described above
/*if($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($res))
echo json_encode(array(array('value' => "is row")));
else
echo json_encode(array(array('value' => "no row")));
return;*/
$matches = array();
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($res))
{
$matches[] = array('value' => $row["BinCode"], 'label' => $row["BinCode"].' - '.$row["ItemCode"],
'name' => $row["ItemName"], 'whscode' => $row["WhsCode"], 'asOfDate' => $row["DataAsOfDate"]);
}
echo json_encode($matches);
}
?>
Note: My boss is having me use MySql and not MySqli extension for now.

Probably you're doing something like the following.
if(empty($_GET["bin"])) or if(!$_GET["bin"]) to check it's value.
But in this cases if bin is 0, the first case results in true and the second in false.
So use isset($_GET["bin"]) instead.

Get information from Yahoo Finance

I want to get the Market Cap value from this site using importxml:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/KIT.OL?p=KIT.OL&.tsrc=fin-srch
Where it says 3.217B.
I am using this to get the "previous close" value:
=ImportXML("https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/quote/"&B3&"/history?p="&B3; "//tbody/tr[1]/td[6]")
I was hoping I could just adjust the above formula to get te market cap value. Anyone who can help?
Thanks!
try:
=INDEX(IMPORTXML(A1, "//tr"), 9, 2)
or:
=INDEX(QUERY(TO_TEXT(IMPORTXML(A1, "//tr")),
"select Col2 where Col1 = 'Market Cap'", 0))
however!
this way you can get only the old value. to get the new one you will need to use a script:
function YAHOO(url) {
const res = UrlFetchApp.fetch(url, {muteHttpExceptions: true});
const tables = [...res.getContentText().matchAll(/(<table[\w\s\S]+?<\/table>)/g)];
if (tables.length < 2) return "No tables. Please confirm URL again.";
const values = tables.reduce((ar, [,table]) => {
if (table) {
const root = XmlService.parse(table).getRootElement();
const temp = root.getChild("tbody", root.getNamespace()).getChildren().map(e => e.getChildren().map(f => isNaN(f.getValue()) ? f.getValue() : Number(f.getValue())));
ar = ar.concat(temp);
}
return ar;
}, []);
return values[0].map((_, i) => values.map(r => r[i]));
}
and formula:
=INDEX(YAHOO(A1), 2, 9)
extra reading: https://stackoverflow.com/a/65914858/5632629
You could try using the full XPath:
=IMPORTXML(A1,"/html/body/div[1]/div/div/div[1]/div/div[3]/div[1]/div/div[1]/div/div/div/div[2]/div[2]/table/tbody/tr[1]/td[2]/span")
Or you could try a vlookup():
=vlookup("Market Cap", IMPORTXML(A1,"//tr"),2,0)

Remove older $_GET from url

I've got some problems with my url on my website. I'm trying to get a link with the given GET parameters, but i'm getting my previous parameter aswell.
My url looks like this:
www.cdwinkel.dev/search-results?genre=Pop&medium=DVD&medium=Single .
It should be:
www.cdwinkel.dev/search-results?genre=Pop&medium=Single .
I'm running the following code:
$data['url'] = createurl();
function createurl(){
$i = 1;
$string = "?";
$keys = array_keys($_GET);
foreach($_GET as $get){
if($get != ""){
$string .= $keys[$i] . "=" . $get ."&";
$i++;
}
}
$string = rtrim($string, "&");
return $string;
}
$i = 1, because my first value in my array is empty.
And my button looks like this:
<a href='".$data['url'].'&medium='.$names[$i]."'>
I guess I should'nt set &medium=.$names[$i] in the href tag,
but I wont get the new $names[$i] in my function, so I won't get a new url if i wont add it in.
I'm looking forward to your responce.
Sincerely,
Kars Takens
At this point i've created an array with the right arraykeys and values.
$url = array_slice($_GET, 1);
This returns the following array:
array (size=2)
'genre' => string 'Pop' (length=3)
'medium' => string 'DVD' (length=3)
After this I decoded this into a new string:
genre=Pop&medium=DVD
I got 6 button which I created in a foreach loop, but i'm getting &medium='VALUE' Twice. This only happens after the first time. So the first time my button works well.
<?php
$names = array_keys($data['tellen']);
$i = 0;
foreach($data['tellen'] as $m){
echo "<li><a href='search-results?".$data['url'].'&medium='.$names[$i]."'>". $names[$i] ." <span class='product-amount'>(". $m[0]->count. ")</span></a></li>";
$i++;
}
Hopefully you can help me further with this information.
I solved my problem by adding this in my forloop:
foreach($data['tellen'] as $m){
if(isset($_GET['medium'])){
unset($_GET['medium']);
$url = array_slice($_GET, 1);
$data['url'] = urldecode(http_build_query($url));
}
echo "<li><a href='search-results?".$data['url'].'&medium='.$names[$i]."'>". $names[$i] ." <span class='product-amount'>(". $m[0]->count. ")</span></a></li>";
$i++;
}

How to detect if the path of a url starts with a certain word

I'm trying to figure out how to get the page name from a facebook page and although I've figured out how to get it from the http://www.facebook.com/pagename version, I can't figure out how to test and get it from the longer version that looks like this http://www.facebook.com/pages/pagename/433425324544. How can I test to see if the path starts with /pages and how can I extract the pagename from it all using one function. Here's what I use to get the page name in the standard form.
function get_facebook_username( $facebook_url ) {
$url = $facebook_url;
$result = preg_match("/(https|http)?:\/\/(www\.)?facebook\.com\/?([^\/]*)/", $url, $matches);
$fb_username = 'default value';
if($result == 1){
$fb_username = $matches[3];
} else {
return;
}
echo "$fb_username";
}
I found a better way to do this I think except it cuts the last letter off the username if the url is in it's shortened version. For example.
//---short
$url = http://www.facebook.com/pagename
//---long
$url = http://www.facebook.com/pages/pagename/7532527927346
<?php
$url = $facebook_username;
$path = parse_url($url, PHP_URL_PATH);
$pathTrimmed = trim($path, 'pages/../0123456789');
echo $pathTrimmed;
?>
//---short
pagenam
//---long
pagename
Why is the short version missing the last letter?
The way I would go about this is to use explode to place the url into an array using the below code:
$url = "http://www.facebook.com/pages/pagename/7532527927346";
$result = explode("/", $url);
You get the following array:
array(6) {
[0]=>
string(5) "http:"
[1]=>
string(0) ""
[2]=>
string(16) "www.facebook.com"
[3]=>
string(5) "pages"
[4]=>
string(8) "pagename"
[5]=>
string(13) "7532527927346"
}
Then a simple if $result[3] == "pages" will allow you to check if the url contains pages.
Ninja Edit
In place of explode, you can also use the preg_split which will return no empty array elements:
$result = preg_split("~/~", $url, -1, PREG_SPLIT_NO_EMPTY);

How to generate a grid(Table) with a foreach

My problem is simple, but I'm beginning with cakephp. I'll explain my problem:
I have 2 tables:
Table: Expenditures
Columns:
sub_category_id
account_id
date
ammount
created
modified
description
Table: BudgetRecords
Columns:
budget_id
ammount
sub_category_id
created
modified
I have a 'home-work' to do, and my teacher wants me to do a report. This report will generate a table, and will show an balance (Expenditures.ammount - BudgetRecords.ammount), and each month (BudgetRecords.created, or Expenditures.date, whatever).
Here's my question: I'm trying to do a foreach, passing for each year (if exists), if a year exists, then execute a query for each month. But, how I do that with CakePHP? I've tried to do this only inside the Controller, and it runs fine. But returns me only the last month of the last year. Then, I've tried a different approach.
Inside the View, execute the query and search if exists the year. If exists, then search for this month. Then gives me back the result.
That's what I did:
Inside the View:
<table align="center" border="2" rules="All">
<tr>
<td>Valor:</td>
<td>Data:</td>
</tr>
<?php
for ($month = 1; $month <= 12; $month++) {
if (strlen($month) == 1)
$month = '0' . $month;
foreach ($Expenditure->SaldoMes($month) as $result) {
echo "<tr>";
echo "<td> R$:" . $result[0] . "</td>";
echo "<td> " . $result[1] . "</td>";
echo "</tr>";
}
}
?>
</table>
Inside the Controller:
public function SaldoMes($month = null) {
$month = 0;
for ($month = 1; $month <= 12; $month++) {
if (strlen($month) == 1)
$month = '0' . $month;
$query = "SELECT (SUM(ex.ammount) - SUM(br.ammount)) as total , br.created as data
FROM budget_Records br, expenditure ex
where SUBSTRING(br.created, 6, 2) = '" . $month .
"' and SUBSTRING(br.created, 6, 2) = SUBSTRING(ex.created, 6, 2)";
$this->set('Expenditure', $this->Expenditure->query($query));
foreach ($this->Expenditure->query($query) as $records) {
$this->set(('Total'), $records[0]['total']);
$this->set(('Data'), $records['br']['data']);
}
}
}
I hope I've explained my problem well enough for someone to show me a solution.
I think this will help
http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/controllers.html
This part is what you are looking for I think. Taken from that website.
<?php
# /app/Controller/RecipesController.php
class RecipesController extends AppController {
public function view($id) {
//action logic goes here..
}
public function share($customer_id, $recipe_id) {
//action logic goes here..
}
public function search($query) {
//action logic goes here..
}
}
"The view files for these actions would be app/View/Recipes/view.ctp, app/View/Recipes/share.ctp, and app/View/Recipes/search.ctp. The conventional view file name is the lower cased and underscored version of the action name."
So if you wanna just use another method like SaldoMes() then just call it in the view method.
#earlonrails, solved:
public function SaldoMes() {
$result = array();
for ($month = 1; $month <= 12; $month++) {
if (strlen($month) == 1)
$month = '0' . $month;
$query = "SELECT (SUM(ex.ammount) - SUM(br.ammount)) as total , br.created as data
FROM budget_Records br, expenditure ex
where SUBSTRING(br.created, 6, 2) = '" . $month .
"' and SUBSTRING(br.created, 6, 2) = SUBSTRING(ex.created, 6, 2)";
$this->set('Expenditure', $this->Expenditure->query($query));
foreach ($this->Expenditure->query($query) as $records) {
$result[$month][0] = $records[0]['total'];
$result[$month][1] = $records['br']['data'];
}
}
return $this->set('result', $result);
}
Using the $result array, now i can get my values.
Thanks for teh help.

jquery autocomplete remote source tried EVERYTHING !! but no good

i have been trying to implement jquery ui autocomplete feature.. and the basic html code is xactly the same as given on-
http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#remote
I have tried all combinations/ code snippets for "search.php" such as-
1)
<?php
if ( !isset($_REQUEST['term']) )
exit;
// connect to the database server and select the appropriate database for use
$dblink = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', '') or die( mysql_error() );
mysql_select_db('research');
$rs = mysql_query('select uname,email,password from login where uname like "'. mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST['term']) .'%" order by uname asc limit 0,10', $dblink);
// loop through each zipcode returned and format the response for jQuery
$data = array();
if ( $rs && mysql_num_rows($rs) )
{
while( $row = mysql_fetch_array($rs, MYSQL_ASSOC) )
{
$data[] = array(
'label' => $row['uname'] .', '. $row['password'] .' '.$row['uname'] ,
'value' => $row['uname']
);
}
}
// jQuery wants JSON data
echo json_encode($data);
flush();
?>
2)
<?php
include("includes/connect.php");
$query = "SELECT uname from login WHERE uname LIKE '%" . addslashes($_GET['term']) . "%'";
$result = mysql_query($query);
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) {
foreach($row as $val)
$tab[] = $val;
}
print json_encode($tab);
?>
3)
<?php
include("includes/connect.php");
$term = $_REQUEST['m']; // where name of the text field is 'm'
$query = "SELECT * FROM login WHERE uname LIKE '%$term%'";
$result = $mysqli->query($query);
$arr = array();
while($obj = $result->fetch_assoc()) {
$arr[] = $obj['nome'];
}
echo json_encode($arr);
?>
But still nothing is working !! that is when i type into the text box for autocomplete there are no results shown. what could be the error ? are there any alternative solutions ?? Please help !!!
The variable that you pass into json_encode must be an array of strings.
e.g. ["red","green","blue"]
or an array of object literals e.g. [{"value" : "red"},{"value" : "green"},{"value" : "blue"}]
Each time through the loop you need to append the item to the existing items.
I notice, in all 3 code snippets, that you assign the current item to your array variable, instead of appending it. When the loop completes, the only item in your array will be the item processed most recently by the loop.
So unless what you type in the field matches that one item, the autocomplete isn't going to show anything.
Here is my PHP code to build an array of strings before sending it back to the file that made the request.
$fetchedArtists = $db->query($queryToGetArtists );
$json = '[';
$first = true;
while($row = $fetchedArtists->fetch_assoc())
{
if (!$first)
{
$json .= ',';
}
else
{
$first = false;
}
$artist = $row['artistName'];
$json .= '{"value":"'.$artist.'"}';
}
$json .= ']';
echo $json;
