Pretty much there in the title. I worked on a project with someone else, then cloned the git repo to my computer, added a new controller, and then thought better so ran:

It's worked before, so what's happening? Might I need to reinstall something that got overwritten?
Also, any ideas why on earth is the error pasting all that stuff about the rails tutorial I'm taking? I don't remember that text being anywhere in my files?

It seems like you might have an error with your routes. Did any new routes get added to your routes.rb? If so, try commenting them out and then running your command.

Attempting to do the Rails tutorial on railstutorial.org. I'm currently at the testing portion of the tutorial and I keep on getting an error when performing the test. The test file I created with 'generate StaticPages controller' command is as is, I have not modified it at all. When I enter in the command 'rails test' I get this error:

Rails version is 5.0 and ruby version is 2.3.0p0
application_helper.rb_helper.rb - is this how you called your helper? .rb is an extension. Thus could you change the name of the helper file to application_helper.rb and see if that works?

Simply rename the root folder to the same name. Not sure why that would work, though :)
When I try to perform "rails generate devise:install" I get this error message:
I've tried re-installing the devise gem multiple times. This error also comes up when I try to start up my server. I'm wondering if the cause of this is from initially trying to install the devise gem with "rails generate devise install" instead of putting a colon between devise and install.

It looks like your accidental install created Install model and other files. Delete those, perhaps?
I am using the device gem and without devise install . Then use, the cmd rails g device auth in this case rails throw the error than using this method my problem is solved

Be mindful that is based on rails 3. Check the differences between rails, and ruby versions if you encounter problems while following directions. If you do get errors, still, this path will get your further to deploying that app of yours.
Come back to Devise when you need the features it provides, Rails, and confident you can implement ideas found in the book 'Crafting Rails Application' by José Valim. He's one of the main contributors of Devise, so you'll get insight on his thought process.
Bit new to rails, but I was generating some controllers, I did one, then went to do another and it spit out an error:

I tried rubymine just to see and it pretty much just did the same thing, that full list of what it outputted is below. I've never had it just decide to stop generating controllers like that, and I did add something to the routes file because I saw a link that said the routes file might need root to: 'controller#action' though i've never had to include that in the route file to generate a controller before, but that didn't fix it either. That was the only other thing I could find online with a similar problem. Any thoughts?

I included 'backbone-on-rails' in my Gemfile, did bundle install, and then did
rails generate backbone:install --javascript
And I got the error below. I'm using rails 3.2.8 and ruby 193. Can anyone explain what the problem might be?
If I can't get the gem to work, does anyone know where I should include _underscore and backbone in a Rails application?

It had nothing to do with backbone-on-rails. I had an error in the route that was defined in routes.rb
