searching youtube video - youtube-api

How do I search for "python tutorial" videos on youtube? I get a lot of unrelated search results. What I need to know is the list of the users who have uploaded python related videos those are more than 20 minutes long.
Update:
In other words I need to scrap the following URL and find the unique users, for e.g. by PythonItalia
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=videos&search_category=28&search_duration=long&search_query=title%3Apython&page=10
Does it support NOT operator? so that I can exclude a user or category?

Try something like this with your API_KEY and YOUR_REGION:
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?part=id,snippet&key=API_KEY&type=video&regionCode=YOUR_REGION&q=python+tutorial&maxResults=2
as for {API_KEY}, it's enabled here, in the API console's
if you registered your app. If not so you have to.
as for {YOUR_REGION}, look and choose here
In general, everything is described here
I'm working on this as well :-)

Youtube API v3 category topics

Hey guys I'm not having an issue with the API directly, but with the documentation. I can make an API request and get the video topic details just fine, but I am looking for a master list of all topics.
According to the documentation the old style of topics that you can see here was depreciated in 2017 and replaced with Wikipedia articles. This is fine and a little better for my use case but I would like to get a list of all options. The documentation says
A list of Wikipedia URLs that provide a high-level description of the video's content.
which is not especially helpful haha. I think I found the Wikipedia Source for all music genres, and it looks like they are just using the "main" genres but I would like to confirm that. I also found this list of topics that looks similar but is from the natural language API documentation instead of the YouTube API documentation.
I could try and brute force it but that would require a considerable amount of effort with no real way to confirm my results. I also found this API but it just returns the top level categories.
I am also really only interested in the music categories.

Youtube API search livestream stop to work

A few days that the youtube api stop to show a livestream videos, is this error only on my api key? if does, is there any other way to find a livestream videos?
I googled if there any message from youtube about this, and i didn't find.
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?part=snippet&channelId=UC4R8DWoMoI7CAwX8_LjQHig&eventType=live&type=video&key={MY_API_KEY}
You are not alone.
It's broken for everybody, unfortunately, and it's been this way for over ten days now. As with all Google services, human support and feedback is non-existent, not even an acknowledgement of the issue.
Ref.: https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/14611425
As a workaround, I had to change the logic to use the q parameter along with eventType=live. This actually works, and, depending on keywords, can also return a whole lot of unrelated live material, which, I think, can be further filtered on the client. This also seems to incur higher quota usage.
Well, I guess the issue is you try to use a meta-channel. UC4R8DWoMoI7CAwX8_LjQHig refers to what you get when you click on live in the menu, but this only "sums up" what's live, it isn't a real channel itself. Just strip the channelId parameter you should get all active live streams (only tested at reference page https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/search/list but got me 14.5k at time of try).

Likes report on third-party YouTube videos

I'm creating a website for users to post their videos on a particular topic. The videos will be processed with an intermediate server and then uploaded to each user's YouTube channel. However, I would like to know if the YouTube API, lets you know the number of likes you get each of these videos on YouTube.
Thank you for helping me
https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/videos/list
This is where to look. Please invest some effort of your own before asking on SO. Your question is easily solvable by using a search engine.
If you don't yet know how the YouTube API works, inform yourself first. Once you do know and were able to try something out, but are stuck, I encourage you to ask another question with your particular problem (after researching, of course).

Youtube Search Results as Playlist, Need Advise

Hi guys, this is my first time to post on this awesome community so
please bear with me.
I am working with a Wordpress Plugin that can display a Youtube Search Results into Video Playlist.
My settings are:
Keywords
Author
Content- channel/keyword
My first Approach was this:
with this api as reference,
search for the keyword > display the relevant results according to the author as playlist
*I'm in doubt if I this is possible, coding 30%
*I'm not sure where could I use my settings for Content
but then when my coding is in progress I recently bumped an article that says Youtube Search is differrent on Searching a Youtube Playlist
Now I can't continue my coding because I'm not sure If I'm doing it
right. Can you give me some advise with this situation or show me some
similar project/examples?
You don't have to write any YouTube Data API code for this; it's a built-in feature of the YouTube Player.
This blog post has an example of loading a list player that takes its content from the recent uploads of a channel. You can do something similar by setting listType=search&list=SEARCH_TERM, where SEARCH_TERM is whatever string you want to search for (be sure to URL escape it). You can read more in the documentation.

search for and embed youtube videos in ruby on rails application

I have a website where I want to basically allow people to display several youtube videos onto the same page.
For example, I have a friend who has 3 different videos. Instead of sending a link to the three videos individually, they would go to my site see the 3 search boxes, search for the videos individually (the search is done on youtube), then they can pick the videos and click "done", at which point, the 3 videos would be embedded on their page.
I'm trying to figure out how to approach this in ruby on rails, but I'm not finding much information on how.
Here's a link from 2009 of a guy who's saying that he can actually do the search and retrieve from youtube: http://railsforum.com/viewtopic.php?id=30443
But I don't know how to do the search & retrieve, and I don't know how to do the embed. I think I can figure out the embed, but what's the best way to do the search/display results?
Thanks a lot for your help stackoverflow, you're my only hope (besides google, but google failed me today).
all you need to know about the search feature is described in YouTube Data Api. You will need your app to communicate with this API. The best thing to do may be to look after a gem specialized in this ; there is a list available in another StackOverflow question.
