GNUstep make dist - gnustep

Is there anyway to configure the name of the archive that is created with make dist ahead of time? I have to recreate the file a lot. Also how do you control the version of the archive as well.

Xcode 11.4 compile error 'Missing package product <package name>'

When I integrate a local package in my Xcode project everything is fine initially but when i switch branches and want to run the app Xcode gives me the compile error Missing package product <package name>. When I quit Xcode and re-open it everything is fine again. Any idea what this can be? An Xcode bug?
We also integrate external packages via Swift Package Manager which works perfectly fine. No issues there.

Solution 1: File > Swift Packages > Reset Package Caches
Solution 2: File > Swift Packages > Update to Latest Package Versions
For me, I needed File > Swift Packages > Reset Package Caches
In Xcode go to File > Swift Packages > Update to Latest Package Versions

In Xcode go to Product > Clean Build Folder
This worked for me. The problem originally started when I was trying to solve another issue that came up after I deleted my Derived Data folder.
Restarting Xcode didn't work, but cleaning the build folder did. I don't know if the other answers here would work for me because I didn't try them seeing as cleaning the build folder worked.
I bumped into this issue today on Xcode 13.0 when working on the WooCommerce iOS app after manually deleting the DerivedData folder.
The build was failing like in the questions description: Missing package product '<package name>'
I tried both resetting the packages cache and updating to the latest versions, but neither work. Thinking about it, that's not surprising since the packages Xcode couldn't find were local packages.
What did the trick for me was following this suggestion from an Apple forums thread and remove the local packages references, then adding them back again.
In WooCommerce's case, the local packages are part of a workspace file. Removing then adding them back again in the same order didn't result in a diff in the file. That is, nothing really changed in the workspace setup, but that was apparently the kind of kick Xcode needed to get over that error. 🤷‍♂️
I'm not sure of the root cause, but I get this quite regularly. Not the most elegant solution, but neither Reset Package Caches nor Update to Latest Package Versions worked for me. For me, I had to quit Xcode, and delete DerivedData.
rm -rf ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/*
Then rebuild.
None of the answers worked for me on Xcode 12.5 beta. I had to manually remove all spm packages and re add them.

Others say doing "Resolve Package Versions" multiple times also work.
I got this error when having the same local Swift package open in two different instances of Xcode in two different projects. Got it working again by quitting Xcode and only having one project open at a time.
A workaround for me at the moment has been both running Product > Clean Build Folder (cmd-k) and then restarting Xcode. This is an issue in both Xcode 12.4 and 12.5, and 12.5's per user package caching did not resolve the issue.
File > Swift Packages > Reset Package Caches also appears to work but it is slower for me.
Context:
One of my vendors distributes their pre-compiled binary library via SPM. Whenever I switch between git development branches, I get:
"artifact of binary target 'xyz' failed extraction: The operation couldn’t be completed. (TSCBasic.StringError error 1.)"
It also causes these "missing package product" errors for totally unrelated packages presumably because if one package fails the whole SPM process fails ("resolving package graph failed") even if these package are entirely independent.
Edit: With Xcode 12.5 simply quitting Xcode and re-opening seems to be enough.
Start with the other answers like

Product > Clean Build Folder
If this doesn't help...
In my messages I found a hint that I had a dependency to two different version of the same package.
After fixing this, Reset Package Caches suddenly worked for most of my packages.
I could fix the remaining problems by adding
platforms: [
.iOS(.v13),
],
to the corresponding package. Before that, I had no platforms statement.
Xcode Source Control should be enabled to run this.
Preference -> Source Control and enable the source control.

I eventually got this resolved. What seemed to get it working was re-adding my local packages using the "Add Packages…" menu option on the project that has the framework targets using the local package. This created a new "Packages" group in the project, and eventually started compiling correctly.
Please remove the existing references and try adding them using the above approach.
Just a silly question: did you set up your git account on Xcode preferences?
For Moya I had to edit project file to Xcode heart's content

I had this issue after the current branch rename in the project and resolve it by clearing xcuserdata in workspace.
Nothing worked for me except Product -> Clean Build Folder and Restart
For me, Xcode was opened using Rosetta which wans't enabled before. Disabling Rosetta helped me 💪🏼
In Xcode 12.0.1 (12A7300) this bug has been fixed. It was auto-resolved by the Xcode update for me.

Apple added a SPM cache. See my question here. If you run into this problem with this Xcode version it might help to delete this cache.

Fastlane Apple Generic versioning not enabled in this project

What I’m doing is trying to make bitbucket pipline do my iOS CD, I included docker fastlanetools/fastlane image and in the steps i pull and run the docker image everything is okay and i was able to let fastlane command work by calling fastlane beta in the steps.
What’s happening is that fastlane exits with the error
Apple Generic versioning is not enabled in this project.
I followed apple documentation to enable it from xCode

I changed all the targets in my project to use App Generic and still not working
In case it was this issue xcrun avgtool xcrun: error: unable to find utility "avgtool", not a developer tool or in PATH

fastlane stopped complaining
In my case it was the issue of Command Line Tools, which wasn't specified under the location tab.

I met the same problem. I searched and tried a lot of ways, but still not worked it out. A flash of inspiration came to my mind. I set a certain version via increment_version_number, it was succeeded magically. Then I tried increment_version_number again to make it automatically increment the version number. Lucky me, it worked.
I had two installations of macOS but Xcode only on one of them, after updating I lost the command line tools location. After setting that up in the preferences it worked again
What i missed was missed setting CURRENT_PROJECT_VERSION
(whz. Current Project Version) build setting, which specifies the current version of your project.
Reason:
By default, Xcode does not use any versioning system & no value for Current Project Version. So setting versioning system to Apple Generic ensures that Xcode will include all agvtool-generated version information in your project.

In my case this problem appeared after I updated Xcode and my xcode-select was pointing to the missing folder.
After I executed xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode_13_4.app Fastlane continued working as it used to before.

Why is xCode asking for Android Studio Gradle files?

I had to delete Android Studio off my MacBook Air to free up space for an xCode update. Now xCode is complaining its missing Android Studio files that have nothing to do with it but are somehow titled
file:///Users/administrator/Documents/Retrographic/Sprocket/Android/Gradle%20Binaries/gradle-2.2.1/lib/plugins/xbean-reflect-3.4.jar: warning: Missing file: /Users/administrator/Documents/Retrographic/Sprocket/Android/Gradle Binaries/gradle-2.2.1/lib/plugins/xbean-reflect-3.4.jar is missing from working copy
What the heck is this and how do I fix it? I tried re-downloading the branch in SourceTree and pointing xCode at it but its still having the same problem. Do I need to just nuke and re-install xCode?

This seems very unusual...
My best guess would be to go through your various build settings in your project targets and ensure that this file isn't listed under anything for linking, building, etc.
If it is, delete it, provided you don't need it for your XCode project.
This error occurs as that file was under your version control system such as git and now it is removed. xcode checks the status of git and complains if a file was removed. You can go to your version control system and commit this change so that xcode doesn't complain. If you are using git, you can do the following:
git status
--> This should tell the file was removed
git commit ...
Some possible solutions.
Solution 1
Open your xcodeproj/project.pbxproj in a text editor
Search for "xbean".
Remove that line.
Solution 2
If you are using an xcworkspace, there may be some other project that is including that file. In that case, I'd do that for all project files. If that is infeasible, do a grep grep -r xbean . and then edit the named files. This command will recursively search for all files mentioning this particular file.
I'm not sure why is this happening, but i think there might be some file references in your project which are no more existing.
You can try this:
Search and delete missing files.

I had SwiftyJson installed via cocoapods. Then i removed it accidentally then installed it again now it is giving me this error. I really don't know what to do now. I tried everything. But no use. Anybody can with any clues or hints?
Try cleaning your project, it usually fixes problems like this, in your tool bar go to Product > Clean or press shift + cmd + k
otherwise reinstall your cocoapods with pod install in terminal while in the directory of your project
I want to thank all who helped me to solve this issue. I just wanted to say that i resolved the case. All the problem was that i had old pod dependency files left in the .xcodeproj original file. So every time the pod was installed the .xcworkspace used the old pod file within the schema. So i had to delete the old files completely from the .xcodeproj first.
I think you need to clean your
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/
folder for your project
I faced same problem with Alamofire and other libraries. I try a lot of ways it was not success.
Swift legacy versions must be same with your target, I use Swift 2.3 each target and library. I explain with images below, I hope someone use this.
Select your pod project and your library
Select Build Settings
Set Use legacy swift language version to YES (it is 2.3)
Select your project target
Repeat again 3. step
clean & build, that is!
Please confirm that you have dragged the pod.xcodeproj into your main project.If not, do steps as below.
1.To find the root of your main project in Finder.
Shortcut: Right Click your view file -> Show in finder
2.Add the Pod.xcodeproj in your main project [Click to look at the picture]
Add the Pod project in your main proj
3.Product -> clean
4.Rebuild

Installing Phonegap on iOS

Recently I was trying to install Cordova onto my mac so I can compile for the iphone, but I ran into a problem. The option to create a Cordova project wasn't there on xcode. I looked online and saw that I needed to create the project through the terminal. I did this, but nothing was created as far as I can see.
On the terminal, after dragging the bin folder to the terminal I did: ./create /desktop/ios-program/ com.appname appname

These instructions are pretty clear, even if the directory tree you get after extracting the zip file is not exactly the one they show.
After installing all the requirements:
1. extract the content of phonegap-2.7.0.zip wherever you want
2. go to lib/ios/bin and run the create command with the suggested parameters.
3. open the finder and go to the directory you used as first parameter
4. doubleclick the file with extension xcodeproj to open XCode and the project will be automatically created
Make sure that you are inside \phonegap-2.7.0\lib\ios\bin before entering ./create command.
