Language not available on iTunes Connect - ios

I've successfully translated my App to Spanish and Catalan. Both versions (in addition to the english one) work very ok. I'm preparing the submission and, when I'm to add the new Catalan version, to my surprise I cannot choose this language from the scroll down menu, although I was able to select it on Xcode when working on the translation.
So, how am I supposed to release the catalan version?. I know I could select spanish and fill the field with the catalan version, but then I cannot fill in the spanish one.
Anyone here with experience on the matter?
Thanks in advance!

By "versions" here, I assume you're just talking about localizations within one single application.
If so, the user would simply need to purchase your application from the App Store, run it on their device, and if they have Catalan as a primary language, your Catalan localization would be used.
iTunes Connect does not support Catalan as a store language yet, which is why you can't post a Catalan translation of the store listing, but it still should display in the proper language on the user's device. According to the iTunes Connect Developer Guide, the following languages are currently supported for localization of the application description:
English
Spanish
German
UK English
Canadian English
French Canadian
Brazilian Portuguese
Australian English
French
Mexican Spanish
Portuguese
Dutch
Italian
Japanese
Simplified Chinese
Russian
Swedish
Korean
If you wish for Catalan to be added as an additional language option in the App Store, please file an enhancement request at http://bugreport.apple.com .

The only way you can localize your app in a language that is not available in iTunes, is to create a separate app just for this country and enter the info in the language. Not ideal, because now you have 2 apps to take care of: one for all available language and one just for this language.

German (Switzerland) German (Austria) on App Store Connect - Release Notes

I have an app localized for 3 variants of German:
German de-DE
German (Switzerland) de-CH
German (Austria) de-AT
In the project navigator I'm able to see all the three variants, also the app successfully switches the language to any of those and runs the appropriate version.
However, I'm unable to post release notes and see only the "German" option.
Is it an intentional behavior of App Store Connect or the service doesn't recognize the languages enabled for the app and doesn't show them for release notes?
The localisation options shown for the App Store meta data is a fixed list. They are not determined by the localisations in your app.
Where their aren't country specific options then I assume that the language that is shown to the user accessing the App Store is determined by the language setting on their device.
Someone with de-CH will see German while someone with fr-CH will see French.
Interestingly there are options for French (France) and French (Canada) as well as English (UK), English (USA) and English (Australia).
I guess you would need to ask Apple why they don't provide variations for Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Version info for App localisation displayed on App Store

In App Store Connect, which is the default version information displayed on the App Store for the text fields "What's new in this version" & "Promotional Text" in the localized alternatives?
Is the following assumption correct?
The version information is provided in English in the App's main language "English US" and in Spanish "Spanish (Spain)":
Spanish (Spain) as well as all other Spanish variants will use the
Spanish text that is provided manually.
All other App Stores using English or another language will display the English text that has been provided manually.
Or are both text fields being left empty actually don't display anything in the App Store?
I feel like having to copy&paste the English version manually for all localised versions (using only localised keywords) shouldn't be necessary.
If you have tested this or seen the actual behaviour, I'd very much appreciate your answer.
Answer from Anand is not correct.
1) For all required fields (like description, keywords, what's new etc.) you must insert something for all active languages/localizations over at App Store Connect.
Example: If you start version 1.0 with English (en-US) as your primary locale and add Spanish (es-ES) to your version 1.1 you must insert something in the "What's new" section for Spanish. (As for all other required fields) Otherwise App Store Connect won't let you submit the app for review.
App Store Connect won't validate or check your translations, so you could translate your general metadata once and "keep" the "What's new" section English, but you must copy & paste the information.
2) Optional fields (promotional text, marketing URL etc.) can be left blank or only filled in for one language, but the App Store will not mix and match locales.
Example: If you insert a promotional text for English (en-US), which is your primary locale, and none for Spanish (es-ES), the Spanish localization will not display any promotional text.
With regards to when which language is used, check out this paragraph from the App Store Connect Help:
For example, if the primary language you select for your app in App Store Connect is English and it’s the only language you provide, your app metadata in all App Store territories appears in English. If you localize your app metadata in French, users whose language setting is French will see the French localization. Users in territories where the App Store supports French but not English also see the French localization. Users can search for your app using localized keywords in all territories where the App Store supports French. If there’s no localization available that matches the language setting, the next most relevant localization is used. In other App Store territories, users see your metadata in the primary language (English in this example).
If English is the primary language of the app, your assumption is right.
Text updated for Spanish will be shown in Spanish App Store.
English updated for English(U.S) language will be shown in all other App
Store since it is the primary language.
We need not copy paste the English version manually for all localized versions. The Primary language text will be automatically updated for all localized versions. It is up to us to change the localized text for other languages.

iTunes Connect Apps Localisation

I'm trying to localisation of application in Spanish but Then User Search application in Spain iTunes Show Description in English UK
How Can i Show Spanish localisation MetaData in Spain Not in English UK ?
You need to Localize Application Description in Spanish on iTunes Store. In iTunes Store use can localize application description in various language. If you Add Application description in Spanish language then When user see app in Spanish store the app description show in Spanish language.
As you see language list in screen shot. You need to select Spanish for that and add description for that language. you can also define application screenshot as per language on that page.

Use Spanish Localization as Catalan Localization

I'm dealing with localization 🎉
The main langauge for my app is english, but it has been localized to spanish as well. When a user uses Catalan langauge, my app needs to fall back to spanish instead english. Is this possible without supplying the catalan localization?
Edit
I found this apple reference saying:
You can choose from more than 100 different languages and dialects
designated by regions to localize your app. However, the more general
you make your localized resources, the more regions you can support
with a single set of resources. This can save a lot of space in your
app bundle and help reduce localization costs.
iPhone users can choose their language preferences.
As a catalan, i have my iPhone in Catalan, and second in spanish. So when an app is only translated to spanish, NSLocalizedString search for catalan first, if the app doesn't support catalan, it search for spanish and last for english.
So it's not your job to translate for all possible languages! ;)
It's iphone users job to put the correct language preferences

How to set Brazillian Portuguese localization in iTunes Connect

I'm a bit confused on how to set up my Brazillian Portuguese meta data localization in iTunes Connect. First off, in xCode when I add the localization I have the option of Portuguese or Portuguese (Portugal) from which I obviously choose Portuguese. Then, in iTunes Connect when I want to add a new meta data localization, my choices are Brazillian Portuguese and Portuguese. My ultimate goal is so that my Brazillian Portuguese translation is shown to users in Portugal and Brazil, so should I simply choose "Portuguese" ?
If you have not further defined two set of translations for Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese, you should place the same Portuguese translations to both languages.
I believe iTunes connect does not have any language fallback betweem these 2 languages, as they are regarded them as 2 separated languages.
