Is the MetaWeblog API still supported? I ask because while researching XMLRPC, the Cook Computing library and implementing MetaWeblog API, I clicked a link that took me to MSDN that states the topic has been removed.
There is a link there that takes me to new docs for Windows Live SDK. On the new page i cannot find current info on MWAPI.
I am using EF, MV3, and VB.Net.
MetaWeblog API support had always seemed (to me) tenuous at best. Seeing as how the project hasn't been updated since 2003 (http://www.xmlrpc.com/metaWeblogApi) I think it is safe to assume that support has essentially ceased. That's my .02 anyway.
(Also, the Yahoo web group's newest post is from 2004 (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MetaWeblog-API/))

I am wondering if anybody has any information or news regarding the API (if it exists yet?) of the new YouTube Cards (replacing the old annotations).
Is there any beta api information out yet?
I'm referring to this:
Thank you for your help
You can track the YouTube Developer Blog and also subscribe to the revision history of YouTube Data API v3, in order to get the latest info on the API, as soon as it is available. Currently (as of the last version of the API - April 27, 2015) there is no way to manage Cards, and I suspect that there would not be, at least not anytime soon.
I think so because currently even annotations are not fully supported by YouTube Data API v3 (they only added support for setting invideo annotations in v3). I suppose there is a specific reason that this feature has been missing for so long- maybe they don't want to unleash it because they foresee some problems that may arise if they do. It has been requested numerous times in the past by the community (See the last posts in this thread, where a YouTube representative has answered, also this question).
I'll investigate further to see if I can find any more info on future revisions of the API and will update my answer. Meanwhile, you can submit a feature request for Card Management API here. Good luck!
I'm developing for the Xbox with XNA currently, but when I click on several links to the official Microsoft site, e.g. tutorials and files, then I get redirected to this page:
http://forums.create.msdn.com/forums/t/19992.aspx
For example by clicking this link:
http://create.msdn.com/en-US/education/catalog/sample/skinned_model
Anyone having the same problems with the official Microsoft site currently?
Yes. Microsoft are aware of this issue - although I'm not privy to any information about when/if they will fix it.
Basically, as part of the move to Windows Phone 8, they've separated out the Xbox and Phone development stuff.
If you come across old links like that, you can usually repair them by hand by changing the domain like so:
forums.create.msdn.com becomes xboxforums.create.msdn.com (change the subdomain)
And
create.msdn.com becomes xbox.create.msdn.com (add a subdomain)
Yes.
It'd be like this for a month now. It seems to suggest they are trying to downplay XNA for Windows 8 development which is saddening! You could always use Google's caching service to view the pages if you are finding them from Google... I don't think this will work for downloads though!
I'd like to enable BATCH MEDIA upload to UMBRACO 5.
Unfortunately all existing packages are broken, so I've started creating my own
(following this guy's nice blog here.. http://heltblank.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/multiple-file-upload-for-umbraco-5-jupiter-using-uploadify/)
My PREFERED option would be using a WCF webservice, but a BackOfficeController is also an acceptable option...
Now the QUESTIONS:
*) How do I FETCH existing media folders (for parentId) in the webservice or BackOfficeController?
*) How do I Create a new Media Item in the webservice or BackOfficeController (directly via Hive, ..) not just calling the controller as in the blog above?
I've been really in love with Umbraco for 2+ years.. but the API model for Umbraco 5 seems a bit over-engineered in my opinion.. (Hive / Get Writer / Repository / Schema /...) all similar terms that harden development work like this..
Thanks for your help!
You may already be aware of this but as of (13th June 2012) Umbraco 5 is officially an abandoned project due to the fact it was fundamentally flawed at the architecural level and deemed unfixable.
It was announced at the Developer Conference... you can see the reasons why in the blog post below. Suffice to say, you're advised to not use it.
http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2012/6/13/v5-rip.aspx
or watch the rather cringeworthy keynote video here :
http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2012/6/13/cg12-keynote-video.aspx
So I recommend that you move to 4.X for the above and do above.
Thanks,
Is anyone else experiencing problems with the Bing helper in Microsoft.Web.Helpers?
The Bing.AdvancedSearchBox helper method tried to load the following javascript file but throws a 404 error. The script is http://www.bing.com/bootstrap.js
Has anyone else experience the same problem? So far there has not been any updates to the microsoft-web-helpers package in Nuget. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Diego.
UPDATE 5/1/2011
I found the following official statement...
I wonder when Micorsoft will release an update to Microsoft.Web.Helper to remove the deprecated functionality.
Note: Bing team at Microsoft announced that they will be shutting down siteowner service on April 4th. This will prevent you to use the AdvancedSearchBox feature of Bing on your website/blog or web applications. Here is the quote from Bing's official blog:
As of April 4th, 2011 we will discontinue support for the bing.com/siteowner functionality. If you continue to leverage the feature after this date (April 4th, 2011), users who attempt to query in the search box will be redirected to a 404 page. This means that you will need to move to the Bing API in order to continue to receive web or site search results from us. We have decided to take this step for two reasons.
First, the tool has not been getting a lot of use and while we have some very loyal customers on it, we believe we can provide you better alternatives in the future as we free up resources.
Second, the functionality available through bing.com/siteowner can be replicated with the Bing search API and so it feels a bit redundant.
As has become customary, we will give you a window to migrate off and ask us any questions you may have about this change. We will also provide reminders as we get closer to April 4th. Thank you so much for your support.
It looks like something has changed on the bing servers and this script no longer exists.
Since Exchange doesn't provide support for all local calendar types in OWA, I need to create one, using Microsoft.Net's support of calendars, but where should I start?
If I understand correct what you want, the usage of Exchange Server Web Services would be the best way for you. EWS gives you full set of API for appointments and they can be used in .NET very easy. You can use Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Web Services SDK (EWS SDK) with Exchange Server 2007 SP1 (you should just use ExchangeService constructor with ExchangeVersion.Exchange2007_SP1 parameter).
I recommend you to watch video http://channel9.msdn.com/pdc2008/BB46/. I find this video as the best starting point.
Other 6 videos from
https://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDetail.aspx?EventID=1032427565&Culture=en-US can gives you more additional information. In two last videos from there you can learn some optimization tricks like retrieving only the properties which you need and paging of results. Using of custom extended properties in appointments is also explained in both of this video sources.
Some small examples how to work with with calendar items (appointment) with respect of EWS SDK you will find here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd633702.aspx.
On http://blogs.msdn.com/exchangedev/ you will find more interesting information, links and some good examples.
