I have added iAd to my app but I have read that is not the best advertising platform on iOS. Must I change it to another option like AdWhirl or the Google Ads SDK for iOS. Whats the most lucrative option? (My app is a tourist guide)
Thanks for reading.
I think AdWhirl is a good idea and is what I use in my ad supported apps. It allows you to use most of the main advertising companies and means you can switch between the different ones without creating new builds of your app.
Personally I place iAd as the first priory as the rates are the best but the fill rates are often pretty low (and non-existent in many countries). AdMob is second and I used "house ads" third.
The answer for you probably depends on where your users are and exactly what your app does. But that's exactly why AdWhirl is a good idea, you can change the ratios as often as you want.
(One thing to consider if you're expecting tourists to use it: will they have data switched on? You're not going to get many click's if your users are not online!)

I want to add Analytics tool in my iPhone application. I have found Google Analytics, Asking Point and Flurry.
Now which is the best analytics tool form them and why ? or is there any other tool available ?
I use flurry, they have a great platform and very easy to integrate. Flurry also seems more focused on mobile. Most people use flurry, but I think some are starting to switch to google analytics, although i have' t personally used them, however their focus isn't just mobile, but they are great at dealing with web pages.
Flurry can let you track any event. A downside would be the reporting time, sometimes it can be hours, and as far as downloads it seems to update everyday.
I would use both for a few weeks and see which one you like better. It will probably come down to your preference.

I'm researching a project that involves displaying different data on different monitors. Essentially it is a like a game show app. The idea is a teacher plugs his/her laptop into a projector and starts the application. The projector displays the question with a countdown timer. The laptop screen shows the question & countdown timer but also shows the answer to the question as well as a list of students so the teacher can select the one that got the answer right so it can keep score.
I think it would be fairly straightforward as a window forms application but I'd like to make it web-based so that we don't have to worry about the specs of the teachers' machines being compatible, distributing updates to the various teachers, etc.
It looks like Silverlight may be a possible solution based on this post, but I was wondering if there were any other options for this. Also, since I'm in the research phase, I'm pretty flexible about looking at different options.
You could get something working with ASP.Net by having two different pages, one for the laptop screen, the other for the projector, and have the two pages talk to the server via SignalR.
The teacher would need to manually move the pages to the right monitor, though.

May be this question is out of development environment. What is the best mobile analytics service for iOS apps, which update downloads count live ? Currently i am using flurry and its gives the download count like every 6 hours. Are there any quicker services ?
The term Best calls for some more explanations, as it depends on one's requirement. What are the features you need? should it be a free service? etc.
Here are some options. I am only answering this part - Are there any quicker services ?
Bango has mobile app analytics and it is real time (well
according to their website).
Countly is another option, and it is open source and real time.
mtiks is real time.
Appsflyer is another, but I don't think it has a free plan
appinsights is realtime and offer a free trial period.
Capptain is also real time
appFigures.

Looking for some advise
I have been developing a ipad app that i am looking to release shortly but i am asking for advise on cost.
Basically my ipad app uses googles image api and it also uses you tubes and twitters api, so its kind of a mashup of various technologies.
Can i charge for my app i was only thinking 69pence but i am not sure if this is allowed and have no experience in releasing apps, i would like to try and make some profit if possible and have looked at the various advertising options iads etc.
What are apple policies on charging for a ipad app using various apis??? can someone update me or even just point me in the right direction for a forum to ask on i have tried here https://devforums.apple.com/index.jspa but its mainly developer based and not general discussion.
Thanks
There is nothing in Apple iOS Developer Agreement to prevent you from charging for such an app.
You should ensure that you are entitled to use the API you mention for a commercial purpose (which I understand should be normally the case, but you will know better).
You should also ensure that the way you use the content you get through that API is legally sound. The problem here arises from the fact that content from YouTube and google images is protected by copyright in its own. Maybe it is the case you can claim for fair-use, maybe it is not... it depends on what you do with the content.
As to the consequences of a breach of the API or copyright, I think that if your app becomes hugely successful, then chances are you could get a request for money; if your app will just sell as most apps do, then no one will notice. Just my guess, no guarantees implied!! :-)

I have a question, I was wondering if it is professional to use jQuery mobile for a iPhone app? I mean, i just needed to create photo galleries and i used jQuery mobile, and then created a webview for it.
Is it OK to create an iPhone app this way? Or is it not professional? Thanks!
Everyone will have an opinion about whether it is professional or not... it all depends on how you deliver your final product.
If your app looks polished, performs well and adheres to the HIG guidelines, then yes, it could be acceptable.
If you however throw something together which looks bad, performs poorly and doesn't function, then don't bother. You'd likely not make it past the approval process.
Take a look at: http://www.jqmgallery.com/. Lots of people have used jQuery Mobile to produce really slick looking apps.
Ask the basic questions -
Can I maintain it easily
Can someone else maintain it easily
Does it work with my SCM
Does it meet the requirements - fast enough, no crashing, etc.
It's professional, as long as you use best practices, and write decent scripts.
