Is it possible to put a background image, and/or modify the close button (X) in the sidebar's titlebar?
I know I can set the text value of it by changing sidebartitle="" but is there any way to put an image in there?
Basically I'd like to put my logo up there instead of inside the sidebar where real-estate is already limited.
I'd also like to be able to do this without modifying my profile CSS so that I can deploy the changes with the extension.
Any ideas?
I ended up finding the element within sidebar-box with the ID of "sidebar-header" and setting that to a variable named "sbhead".
I was then able to sbhead.style.display="none";
Finally in my overlay.xul I added an hbox tag as a new header and set the height to 25 pixels so it would look about the same as the tabs.
Inside the hbox I added the content I wanted, to include a close button that calls toggleSidebar() so that the functionality of the header was the same.
I hope this is helpful to someone!

I'm using vaadin-combo-box and I have a problem. I have no clue how to customize look and feel of scrollbars for the dropdown. I read about styling parts and I know how to do it but this seems to be impossible. Cant figure out the way to select #scroller element because it has been design not to be a "part" to style. However that is the only way I can think of to apply custom style to dropdown scrollbars. How can that be accomplished?
Thanks in advance for help.
#Update
Turns out that as of today there is no way of having customized styling on scrollbars for vaadin-combo-box component. Element responsible for scrolling resides inside contents shadow DOM and is inaccessible from outside nor its going to inherit style implemented on the parent part [part="content"]
The dropdown part is called vaadin-combo-box-overlay, see: https://vaadin.com/components/vaadin-combo-box/html-api/elements/Vaadin.ComboBoxOverlayElement And it is available for styling.
This allows to style the dropdown to some extent, but there is additional shadow root, that prevents to apply e.g. ::-webkit-scrollbar styles on #scroller element.
So the last option would be to make a copy of the vaadin-combo-box html file in right place in frontend directory. It happens so that that file will be used instead of the one coming from webjar. Then you can edit that html file directly. Of course this means that if there are changes in future versions of vaadin-combo-box, you need to copy again, re-apply changes
I would like to embed another widget in one end of a GTK+ 3 text entry box, a bit like many browsers do with search or protocol security "chips":
I know I can set an icon on a text entry with
entry = Gtk.Entry()
entry.set_icon_from_icon_name(Gtk.EntryIconPosition.PRIMARY, icon_name)
Even if I pass my own GdkPixbuf to set_icon_from_pixbuf this still limits me to icon sizes, when I want some arbitrary size (at least horizontally) depending on the "chip" content.
I also tried to "shunt" the text over with set_margin_left, but this moved the left edge of the whole entry box over, rather than the text within the box.
What would be an effective way to embed some other GTK+ widget (hopefully of any complexity, so I can make the chip more interactive) within a text entry?
GtkEntry is not a container, so it cannot have child widgets.
The appropriate way to implement what you see in the screenshot is to use a separate container and style it appropriately.
Have you considered putting the entry inside a frame, and restyling stuff to make it look like it was inside an entry? Then you could use standard containers to put whatever widgets next to the text entry spaces that you wanted.
The downside is that clicking your "icon" doesn't focus the entry automatically, but it makes that action totally configurable.
I'd like to create a layout to show this table in list view, the point is to make the text field resizable according to content. I have try several method, but all fails. I am using FileMaker 12.
Any help much appreciated.
For Browse mode you can set layout objects to dynamically resize based on the layout size, but not on the object contents. If you need this functionality in Browse mode you will probably need to use a web-viewer.
In Preview mode you can use sliding left and sliding up for reduction of the size of the layout objects, but there is no option to expand.
In Browse and Find modes, if a field isn't set to have a scroll bar, the field will expand while the user is entering data, but only then. It will return to the default size when the user navigates to another field or another record.
In Preview mode, you can make the field larger than it could possibly need and set it to slide up and also reduce the size of the enclosing part. But the user won't be able to interact with the interface of the layout (can't click buttons, change data, etc.).
A workaround might be to use a tooltip. If you set the tooltip to the contents of the field itself, then the user can hover over the field to see any expanded contents.
If you really need exactly the functionality that you mention (which I would define as having field height and enclosing body part expand in list view based on the field's content length while in FileMaker), the only way I could see doing it would be to use custom web publishing to create a web page and use FileMaker's web viewer to show that web page. F 'n' web has an article that might be of some assistance if you go this route.
In my projects when I forget to add something in the Main Storyboard, I always have to redo the entire thing if I want to change the "layer order." For example, if I want to add an Image View (with full screen constraints) as the background after I've already some other elements, it will cover them. How do I change the "layer" that each element is on without deleting and remaking them? Thanks.
Click on the element you want to arrange, hit Editor > Arrange > Send to Back (or send backward depending on how you want to arrange it)
I was wondering, if it is somehow possible to add a TextBox in the Application Bar area (the same way the Internet Explorer does), but I didn't find any information source about this. Have you any idea, how to accomplish this task?
You will not be able to add UIElements inside ApplicationBar as it is not derived from UIElement.
Alternatively, you can try adding a Grid at the bottom of the screen and color it similar to the ApplicationBar. Then add a TextBlock inside the Grid. This is just a workaround and not recommended as it is not according to the standards.
