Did some research but haven't found way to detect app referrer in iOS app(App is based on Swift Language), Flow is
Someone has posted some web link on FB i.e. link is
https://example.com.
Assume our iOS app is already installed on user's
device, hence when someone click on that link it will trigger ourapp(via
deep linking flow), and its working fine but also would like to know
source from which app user land to our iOS app.
Looks like in android there is way to achieve this using AndroidAppUri but haven't found way for iOS, let me know if anybody has any suggestion\input.

I'm using the branch.io API to create deeplinks send by email to our users. When creating the link I add some metadata for the iOS app like the deelinkpath and other useful data.
I'm able to see these params when I copy the branch link and open the iOS app manually. And it works also when the link opens safari first before redirecting to the app.
However if the link opens the app directly from the email (universal link), branch doesn't recognise the link and returns
["+clicked_branch_link": 0, "+is_first_session": 0]
Any idea on what I'm missing?
Thanks!
The issue was related to a wrong implementation of the Scene Delegate methods to manage the continue user activity as we support only iOS > 13.0.
This new version of the Branch iOS SDK doc explains how to fix the implementation for apps using Scenes: https://help.branch.io/developers-hub/docs/ios-basic-integration#section-apps-using-scenes
In the iOS docs for Google App Invites, under Receiving Invitations, it is suggested that a deep link can be retrieved on first launch if the app wasn't installed in advance:
If the user has not yet installed the app, the user can choose to
install the app from the iTunes App Store. When the app opens for the
first time, the App Invites SDK will supply a deeplink if one is
available.
I've looked through the reference docs for GINInvite and GINReceivedInvite but I don't see any way to instantiate GINReceivedInvite outside of an application openURL call. Anybody know how to actually have the SDK retrieve the deep link in this scenario?
What you are trying I will say is not the correct way. You have to check in Safari web browser if app is install or not. If not navigate to App store
You can find your solution in here How to check if an app is installed from a web-page on an iPhone?
I have an application on IOS, which posts photos and location on facebook.
I want my app to open once user tap on link(When viewing facebook from facebook app). Is this possible?
It's not possible using the built in iOS sharing but Facebook will open your app if you are using their SDK and posting with a Facebook app. (as in an app setup in their developer portal) You need to have deep linking turned on and your app profile setup to point back to your app store id. They also have a new app links thing they announced which is worth checking out. In any case your app will have to support custom URL schemes.
Sorry I can not get clearly but if I am not wrong then do you want to open your iOS app when user click on link on FB ?
If I am right then simple and sort answer, it is not possible because apple iOS dose not provide any such types of feature/API so it is better to stop fighting.
I'm trying to create a QR code that launches a Facebook page from the app, rather than the browser on both Android and iOS.
Creating the code with fb://page/<page id>, works perfectly on an Android.
This was also supposed to work with iOS's Facebook app, but I think since Facebook updated their app recently from a HTML5 version to a fully native iOS app, that functionality has stopped working. It indeed opens the Facebook app, but it does not go to the page.
Has anyone else seen this happen since the app was updated a few weeks ago? And what string would I have to use to create a working QR Code for iOS's Facebook app?
We finally figured it out. FB changed it to fb://profile/ instead of "pages". It works across both platforms.
I am trying to detect if my ipad app is installed on a device when visiting my website, in order to suggest different action to the visitor.

I found that the "store" application on iphone seems to have achieve to detect if the app is installed on the device. When you click on store links, it launch the app instead of going to the mobile web version.
For example, if you go to :
http://store.apple.com/xc/anythinghere
with an iphone on which apple store app is installed ( http://itunes.apple.com/app/id375380948 )
it automatically start the store app, instead of the web page.
I tried to follow the stack call with mitmproxy but safari doesn't seems to ask query before launching the app.
So, I guess they did custom url scheme recognition, with http:// links.
Do you think it is possible?
This is done with URL protocol handlers:
http://www.iphonedevfaq.com/index.php?title=URL_schemes#URL_Protocol_Handlers
You cannot detect if an app is installed from HTML, but you can launch an app. For example, the popular game "Doodle Jump" can be launched by going to doodlejump://, but if you don't have it installed, the link won't work. As mentioned, this is done with a custom URL scheme and needs to be coded into your app.
