Constraints are not working at Buttons with Images Xcode - ios

today i have set up some constraints in a view but there looks awful. Which Constraints have i to add (see screenshots)
In XCode
In Simulator

If I have understood your requirement right, you need to have four images with labels below these individual images. If this is the case, you can use collection view whose cell contains a image view and a label. You can give the spacing between cells, size of cell and intercell spacing through delegates. Also just you need to specify image view and label constraints in collection view cell. Like for instance, image view placed horizontally centre and pinned to top of superview, label placed horizontally pinned to bottom of image view and top of label to give a gap between them.

Fix the all images height and width, and given the leading, trailing, top and vertical spacing between label and images. Also fix the label height. You will given the min 4 and max 6 constraints for every fields.

Storyboard Constraint Issues: Half the height of the screen

I have a 4 labels in a storyboard, one large one at the top, and 3 smaller ones, with the bottom one centered in the middle(horizontally and vertically) like so:
I have a few constraints set already, like locking the top label at the top of the screen, and centering the bottom. However, I do not know constraints I should use so that all four labels are equally spaced, AND the bottom label remains at the center. I have played around with some constraints such as the spacing between the labels, but when I try to view this using a different screen size, everything is messed up:

The best approach is a UIStackView with axis-> vertical , distribution -> fillEqually , so hook it's top ,leading , trailing to main view , drag the 4 labels inside it , and ctrl drag from the bottom most label to main view and select center vertically && horizontally
You can made a trick here:
Set the top global label top constriants and center horizontally to super view.
Set the bottom label constraints center vertical and horizontally to super view.
Take three dummy view between label one-two, two-three, three-four.
Set constraints between these dummy view as equal height.
Then set top-bottom contraints between label and dummy view properly.
Set horizontal constraints of the label and dummy view. I have set as center horizontally.

For better understanding I have colored the dummy view as light-gray. You can set it as clear.

Constraints not resizing properly for all screen devices

I am trying to do the constraints for these horizontals button. I want the ratio of size of buttons to be the same, and the icons to be of equal widths and heights of each others.
Any idea of how i can do that so these buttons resize properly according to the screen size? Thanks!
Make groups of UIView containing the icon and text. Lets call this container view
Place all the n container views inside your storyboard as you would like them to appear. Now:
To the left most container view add a leading and bottom constraint to the super view.
Now to the second container view add a leading space of 0 (or anything you want). Control + drag your second button to the first button. Hold down shift and select equal width, equal height and align bottom.
Now apply the same constraints as your second container view to all your n - 1 container view. n being the number of container view you want to add. Now to your last (nth) container view add, one extra constraint, which would be a trailing space to the superView. Now all your container view ought to have an equal width that will be determined depending on the width of the screen!
If you want to have a specific height or aspect ratio to all your container view. Just add the height or aspect ratio constraint to your first container view and all your subsequent views will get updated accordingly.
OR
If you wish for the height to be dependent on the screen size and not maintain a specific aspect ratio, then you will have to give the first container view a equal height to the whole view with a specific multiplier like 0.15.
You will also have to add appropriate constraints to the icon and label present inside each UIView
Edit: A much easier thing for you to do would be add the icon as an image to the UIButton and add the text as you would normally to the UIButton. The UIButton will appear quite similar to the screenshot you posted. And then just apply the constraints I mentioned above.
Set the width and height as ratio of the SuperView. Set if for one button and for the remaining buttons make the height and width equal to the first button for which you defined the height and width in terms of superview height and size. Use this SO Post to see how to set height and width as ratio of the superview.

It's Simple because your All buttons are in single Direction so you can use StackView.
Just simple first apply the equal hight and equal width to all your buttons
now select all the buttons and add them in the stackview
it will be in the right side bottom. (with the constraint icon)
now simple Apply add missing constraint. it will done the work by own and gives better result. (but take care here apply it from the all views in View Controller Section)
And now Bingo try this every Size will show same.
This will work same in simulator also.
The solution is very simple.
See the image below (5 buttons)
The first (blue) button is pinned to the left and bottom of the superview
Each of the other 4 buttons (red, black, green, pink) are top aligned to the first (blue) button
Each button is using a horizontal spacing to the previous button (with a constant of 0). So red button has 0 horizontal spacing to blue, black has 0 horizontal spacing to red, etc
The Last (pink) button is also pinned to the right of the superview
Finally all 4 other buttons are set to have same width to the first (blue) button
That's it!
As for you icons, all you need is to set them to have same width & height to the first icon you have

Q: Auto Layout 4 squares Issue/General Auto Layout Issue

So I'm just trying to wrap my head around Auto Layout; I understand how to use constraints, just not how to apply them appropriately. In the picture below I had set no constraints and simply want this simple design to resize correctly on all size classes (Horizontally and Vertically).

What constraints would I need to put in to have these squares resize appropriately on all screens (horizontal/vertical) and can you do this in the ( W:Any H:Any ) size class or do you have to set constraints for each individual size class?

One size class is all you need in this case.
Set a constraint for each of the 4 gaps between the rects (i.e. the space between the top 2, between the top-left and bottom-left, ...).
Set a constraint for each rect to its 2 closest outer edges.
Now you've set four constraints for each rect - and that's all you need!
For that case: follow the steps
1.Add four uiview to screen, two top and two bottom.
2.In your case the view not touching to bottom layout guide,so you have to give fixed height.
Start the add constraints to views.
All views are correct width and height.
3.So take first view from left top,give leading space ,top space and adjecent spacing to right top view. And select the pin button from the canvas below right side option availabe, select height ,give how much height you need.
4.Now select right top view ,give constraint to top layout guide and trailing space.and also same height what you selected before for view one.
5.Now view three ,left bottom view , give leading ,spacing to top view and right spacing to fourth view and select same height .
6.Now fourth view, give spacing to top view ,trailing to container and select height.
Almost completed.
7.Select all views at once ,give equal withs(option available in pin).
lastly some warning will shows ,do update frames.

Autolayout Issue with Multiple Button Aligned Horizontally & Vertically with a Label

Please look at the ScreenShot attached for wCompact|hRegular for different screens, I am trying to make it working since hours but not getting any success. My requirement is that at the top there would be a label with some predefined margin. Although the Label content would render at the runtime, but I know the content size, so resizable label isn't needed actually I think. Now there would be three row at equal distance. In first and third row, there would be two buttons with equal height and width and in second row there would be button aligned horizontally. I have set the buttons image and text in storyboard. Control Alignment are set to Horizontal | vertical. Constraints for label are:
Pinned top space to superview, leading and trailing space equals to:8(superview), height equals:90.
Constraints for Button(View Transactions) are:
top space to label, bottom space equals to:8(New Launches Button) leading and trailing space equals to:8(superview) and 8(Place Request Button) respectively, and equal width and height for all buttons.
Looks fine for 4.7 and 5.5 But not satisfied with the output for smaller screens. As u can see resizing of buttons image not working properly(Larger space between button's image and text). One more thing is I don't wanna set the height of the label, cause it seems like a wrong practice in AutoLayout. Any help would be much appreciated.
You should set the Aspect Ratio for the Buttons, not just the equal width and height. In that case auto layout wont shrink the images.
Really you should put this into a scroll view so that if the height is too great the user can still see everything by scrolling. You should also not set static heights on labels, you should allow the intrinsic content size to apply.
Add a subview to your new scroll view. Pin the width of this subview to the width of the scroll view. Do not pin the height.
Add all of your buttons and labels to this new subview. Pin them to the edges of the view and allow the intrinsic content sizes to apply limits. Set various items to have equal widths and heights. Do not set explicit heights or widths (do everything by proportion or equality so auto layout can choose good sizes).

Swift - UIScrollView Scrolls Partially

My problem is slightly different from other's 'Swift UIScrollView' problems when using auto layout:
Problem:
Unlike others, when I run my app, it scrolls. My problem is that the scroll cuts off the bottom 20-30% of the content. I can pull to see the buttons did build and are down there, but when I let it go the scroll snaps back to a false bottom which cuts off my content!!! I've been trying, for days, to fix it to scroll the entire height but it continues to cut off!!
Description of app:
I used auto layout to layout 6 buttons and labels. Each button a rectangular image, with a label directly beneath it. (sorry, the site won't let me post pictures!)
I have my views arranged like this:
MainView > ScrollView > ContentView > Buttons & Labels
I have my contentView pinned to my ScrollView and my ScrollView pinned to my MainView. My buttons and labels all have constraints that are building correctly, to create a list that looks like:
Rectangular button
Label beneath it
Spacing
Rectangular button
Label beneath it
Spacing
Etc.
Can anyone tell me why I can't scroll the full length of the view?
Your description of how your items are constrained is vague, so I'm going to list all of the constraints you need to make this work. Then you can compare what you have to what you need and adjust accordingly.
Your ScrollView should be pinned on all 4 sides to the MainView. (This isn't absolutely necessary. You can constrain your ScrollView however you want, but make sure it can grow as the device and/or orientation changes).
Your ContentView should be pinned on all 4 sides to the ScrollView with offsets of 0.
Since you want your ScrollView to scroll vertically only, constrain the width of the ContentView to the width of the ScrollView using an Equal Widths constraint. To do this, in the Document Outline view, Control-drag from your ContentView to your ScrollView and select Equal Widths from the pop up.
The height of ContentView will be set by the sum total height of everything in it. In order for this to work, your topmost button needs to be pinned to the top of the ContentView, all of your buttons and labels should be pinned to their nearest neighbors, and the bottommost label should be pinned to the bottom of the ContentView. In addition, all of your buttons and labels should have constraints for their widths and heights. I would suggest setting an explicit width constraint and explicit height constraint for your buttons and centering them horizontally in the ContentView. For your labels, set an explicit height constraint and pin the left and right edges to the ContentView.
If you have these constraints and no other ones, your ContentView will be properly sized.
Using contentView, like you said, usually fixes the issue. So chances are you need to take a second look at your contraints. Maybe try this solution in a clean/new project to see that it works. (it does work). My guess would be that some of your constraints conflict each other.
Otherwise I think it would be a good idea to setContentSize of your scrollView in your viewDidLoad.
Another hack would be to place 2 UI objects with their alphas set to zero on the right top corner and left bottom corner. This would hint scrollView to set its contentSize.
