I am unable to install the Mac App Store version of OS X Server on my machine, which is using an older version of OS X. I need the OS X Server app to begin Xcode continuous integration.
We could not complete your purchase.
Server can't be installed because OS X version 10.10.1 or later is required.
OS X Server seems to only be distributed through the Mac App Store. Is there any way to download and install an older version?
Searching for "OS X Server" on the Mac App Store only returns one result for the latest version, which can only be installed on the latest version of OS X.
However, old versions of OS X Server can still be downloaded from the Mac App Store via a direct link.

The documentation answers your question
Requirements for Developing iOS Applications
PC running Windows connected to an Intel-based Mac, or a Mac running Windows in a VM, with 2 GB RAM or more.
The Mac must run OS X 10.9 or 10.8, with the latest version of Xcode that supports iOS 7 or iOS 8.
An Apple Developer account is required to deploy iOS apps to physical devices.

I am trying to install xcode on my mac .I tried two options.
1). using command line tools.
I typed xcode-select --install but it gives me below error.
xcode-select: Error: no command option given.
xcode-select: Report or change the path to the active
Xcode installation for this machine.
Usage: xcode-select --print-path
Prints the path of the active Xcode folder
or: xcode-select --switch
Sets the path for the active Xcode folder
or: xcode-select --version
Prints the version of xcode-select
2). After that i tried to install it from App store but even there it is giving me error as
Xcode can’t be installed on “Machintosh HD” because OS X version 10.9.4 or later is required.
BTW i am trying to install xcode version 6.1.
Could any one help me why i am not able to install xcode on my MAC.
Regards,
Rajesh
I think the second error message told you all you need to know. You need to be running OS X 10.9.4 or later.

I want to develop iOS application with swift in windows 8.
Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for helping.
All you need for iOS application development is xCode and xCode can not run into windows so simply it is not possible to develop an iOS application with windows pc but there is many ways to run mac OS into windows OS.
One way is you can download mac os x 10.9 vmware preinstalled copy from the internet and if you follow the step by step installation you can simply run a mac os to your windows pc.
After that you can download xCode and you can start developing an iOS application and lot more.
But one disadvantage of this is it will be slow compare to real mac.
May be this can help you.
No you cannot develop iOS application on windows 8.
You must have mac os in your machine for application development.
We wish to compile iOS (iPhone & iPad) apps and we want to know if you need to have a minimum version of MacOS to compile/create the apps? We currently have a Mac OS X 10.6.8, 1GB RAM, 32 Bit.
If we want to compile apps for iOS 7 do we need the latest (more recent than what we have) OS?
Edit: Does the fact our Mac machine is 32bit affect our ability to compile iOS apps (old apps and/or more recent apps - iOS 5 and up)?
If we want to compile apps for iOS 7 do we need the latest (more recent than what we have) OS?
Compiling apps against the iOS 7 SDK requires Xcode 5. Xcode 5 requires 10.8.4 or later. You have provided insufficient information about your Mac to determine if your Mac can run OS X 10.8. Try to install Mavericks here, or if that doesn't work see the Mountain Lion requirements and buy it here.
iOS7 SDK requires XCode 5 (min requirement 10.8.4)
OSX 10.6.8 will not run anything beyond XCode 4.2
OS X 10.6.8 (snow leopard) is TOO OLD to publish an iphone app.
You'll need a new mac with OS X 10.8 (mountain lion). If the hardware in your mac won't support an upgrade to more recent OS X versions, don't waste your time. Apple have not maintained backward compatibility: the minimum versions of Xcode or Application Launcher needed to meet the app store requirements won't run on 10.6.8.
Specifically:
- Beginning on February 1, 2015 new iOS apps submitted to the App Store must include 64-bit support and be built with the iOS 8 SDK
You can develop, test and simulate with your old mac, but ultimately to build and publish your app you'll need a newer Mac.
2022 update
Now they require SDK 15, included in XCode 13 or later (https://xcodereleases.com).
This release requires macOS Big Sur 11.3 which can officially work on macs from 2013 and later: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211238
In fact you can install it on an older mac with a patch, such as: https://github.com/dortania/Opencore-Legacy-Patcher

I'm a Junior Mobile Developer, I want to install xcode in a Windows 7, or similar software. Anyone know a solution ? For Android I use Eclipse.
sorry but there is no xcode for windows
xcode is mac only and needs osx 10.7+
you can not install XCode in a Windows, but you can use OS X through vmware in a Windows and then you can install XCode in OS X.
