I am building a website with software called serif. Basically, a drag and drop type of package.
What I would like to do is have a homepage with thumbnails from youtube videos so that when users click on the thumbnail, it will allow them to view the video on a larger screen within a different page.
Is there any way I can create quality thumbnails for this purpose?
I have seen website that automatically create thumbnails or alternatively I could right click/save on the thumbnail from youtube and use this image with a hyperlink to the page I require. Would this be okay with google's TOS??
Many Thanks,
Dave
To link from an icon, picture, or inline player:
From the Quick Build tab (Media category), click Sound or Video and then click on your page.
- or -
Choose Media from the Insert menu and select either Sound... or Video... from the submenu.
Select your media location, either available locally (File) or via the Internet (URL).
Enable File, then click Browse... to locate and select the media file. If you do not wish to embed the file, uncheck Embed sound file in site (or picture equivalent). Click Export Options... if you want to choose how the file is published to the web.
- or -
Enable URL, then enter (or type) the absolute web address for the file. You could paste in the target's URL (using Paste from clipboard), if it already exists on the Internet—ensure you copy the exact URL of the file rather than that of just the website.
Select a link display option (icon, inline, or picture).
Click OK to close the dialog, then click (or click and drag) with the cursor to place the icon, picture, or marker on your page.
If you choose not to embed your source files, we suggest you keep them together in a single subfolder, named "Media" or the like. When you publish your site, WebPlus exports and copies both embedded and non-embedded files into a common folder.
To add linked sound or video to a selected object or hotspot:
For a hyperlink object, select a portion of text, picture or page object and then click Hyperlink on the Web Properties toolbar.
- or -
For a hotspot, select Hotspot from the Insert menu and then click and drag on your page.
In the dialog, select File to create a hyperlink to a sound (or video) file on your hard disk.
Click Browse..., locate and select the media file, and click Open.
If you do not wish to embed the file, uncheck Embed file in site.
(Optional) Set Export Options... to define an exported file name and physical location. (See Setting image export options)
In the dialog's Target Window tab, a range of target windows or frames can be chosen depending on how you want the link destination to be displayed. (See Adding hyperlinks and actions).
Click OK.

The (i) icon on the top right corner of the notebook only allows me to change the project's name not the notebook's name.
The following is based on the current UI in dataplatform.cloud.ibm.com as of 2022-11-10, and works similarly in recent releases of the on-prem version (Cloud Pak for Data).
To change the name of a notebook:
Open the notebook for editing.
Click the (i) icon near the top right corner.
In the panel that appears on the right-hand side, make sure that the "General" tab is selected.
Click the pencil icon next to "Notebook".
Edit the name and click "Save".
Next time you navigate to the list of notebooks, you'll see the new name there.
To change the name of the project:
Navigate to Manage -> General.
Click the pencil icon of the "Details" widget.
In the dialog that appears, edit the name and/or description of the project.
Click "Save".
Note that the name of the notebook has no effect on the filenames that you'll see when you export a project. Those cannot be changed. When you create a notebook, the filename is chosen based on the initial name of the notebook.
If you are concerned about filenames, you can create a copy of a renamed notebook, then delete the original. The filename of the copy should then be based on the initial name of the copy.
When I open a multipage pdf file, gimp lets me select the pages I want to import. After opening the file, the first page selected appears in a file window. How do I access the other pages?
thanks
Each page is loaded as a layer. To see a page you have to make the layers above it invisible, this is done by clicking the eye icon on the left of the layer thumbnails in the Layers list.
Shift-click on the icon of a Layer toggles the visibility of all other layers, so this is a very quick way to make it visible.
If you need to put all the pages side by side, there are scripts for this, for instance ofn-layer-tiles that you will find here.
anybody know how to insert image in Tableau worksheet and doing the hyperlink?
i only can add image in dashboard, and in dashboard i also cannot use the image as hyperlink.
From the Tableau on-line help
You can add static image files to the dashboard. For example you may
want to add a logo or descriptive diagram. When you add an image
object you are prompted to select an image from your computer. You can
also type a URL for an image that is hosted online. When you add an
image to a dashboard, you can customize how the image displays by
selecting an option on the images's menu. For example, you can select
whether to Fit Image, which scales the image to the size of image
object on the dashboard. You can also select whether to Center Image,
which aligns the image to the center of the image object on the
dashboard. Finally, you can Set URL, which turns the image into an
active hyperlink on the dashboard.
One of the easiest way to add image into dashboard as
To add image as hyperlink Go to dashboard Icon > Action > URL and in that paste your link as
Tableau image management is still a bit basic, and it's only available in dashboards.
Images can be copied into a dashboard by referencing an external URL in a web object, or a local file path.
You can then use the image object's menu to set a URL to open by clicking on the image.
When clicked, the web page will open in your default browser.
You can also add visuals to dashboards by using a web object to reference a URL - which might give you a more dynamic option, depending on your requirements.
There's a gotcha in Tableau sServer with that approach though - if a report is subscribed to, under the scheduler, a web object just renders as blank in the PNG file that gets emailed. This is also true for manual exports (e.g. to PDF) from Desktop.
So if you want to print/ export your dashboard with images, the image object is the best way to go.
To add an image in a worksheet, you need to use Marks Shape.
This is the process:
1.- Copy you image file to a folder in C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\My Tableau Repository\Shapes\My Image
Note that you need to create the folder My Image
2.- Create a calculated field with the formula: image
3.- Drag that calculate field to Rows shelf
4.- In Marks card, select Shape
5.- click on Shape button in Marks card and click on More Shapes....
6.- In dialogue Edit Shape, click on Reload Shapes, then select the Shape Palette My Image and select your image as a shape
Click on OK
Regulate the size of the shape on the view using Size button on Marks card
You can take advantage of the capacity of adding images to a dashboard. It a simpler approach.
In this case, you only need to create a dashboard and click on Image object (left-side of the dashboard) and select the image file in you disk. As a result the image in embedded in the dashboard.

Hope this helps.
When I open a folder with an OpenDialog, how can I filter it so users can view only certain files (e.g., Stringgrid, *.sg) and the files with any other extension do not appear in the dialog window?
Set the OpenDialog.Filter property to the file filter you want.
You can do this in the Object Inspector:
Click in the Filter property, and you'll see a small button appear on the right edge with ....
Click that, and you'll see a dialog appear.
On the left side is the description of the file (for instance, Excel files (*.xls)). The right side is the filter you want to use, as in *.xls.
You can also set it in code before displaying your dialog:
OpenDialog1.Filter := 'Excel files (*.xls)|*.xls';
Of course, replace the Excel stuff with any description and mask you want to use.
The Filter and FilterIndex properties are used to specify which file extension(s) to display (note that the user can override the filter manually, though).
The OnIncludeItem event is used to selectively allow/disallow individual files/folders from being listed in the dialog.
I want to link to a specific slide in an online PowerPoint file, (e.g. http://www.example.com/hello.ppt) but what I want is that when people click on my link, it goes straight to the nth slide.
Is this possible?
Link to
http://www.whatever.com/hello.ppt#4
for slide 4 to be opened initially.
Take a look at this site:
http://www.tinyempire.com/shortnotes/files/specific_slide_in_ppt.htm
Also, if you want a link to the nth slide within the same file (to automate the 'Edit Hyperlink' > 'Place in This Document' action) then omit the filename and only set it to "#n".
I found the answer. all you have to do is add #n after .ppt.
For example, http://www.whatever.com/hello.ppt#4 will take you straight to the 4th slide.
The following method applies to any online version of PowerPoint (e.g. Office 365).
Open the powerpoint file in your browser (the link could look like this: http://YourCompany.sharepoint.com/:p:/r/sites/SiteName/...)
In the thumbnails list (on the left), right-click on the slide you want to refer to and choose "link to this slide" (free translation, my version is in Dutch "Koppeling naar deze dia")
In the pop-up screen, you can choose to share a read-only or an editable version
