iOS 7 embedded calendar api - ios

I'm fairly new to iOS development, I've been asked to write an application that moves around days in a calendar. The graphics designers thought it would be a good idea to have an embedded scrollable calendar so the user could navigate easily through dates.
I'd love to post an image for what I want but I don't have the reputation yet to do so.
This calendar view looks just like the native calendar app on iOS 7 but it's just a sideways scrollable choosing date of the month you're in and it only take a small portion of the screen. Would anybody know if there's a framework I could use to achieve similar results?
Thanks in advance!

I know it's a little late, but I'll just post it here in case other people has the same problem.
A few months back, I had the exact same problem.
I couldn't find exactly what I need, so I had to implement it myself with UICollectionView
Anyway, after finishing my project, I've decided to make a library based on it.
This should be easier to use than any other calendar library.

Hope it helps :)

There will most likely not be a component that does exactly what you want. A good thing to do in a situation like this is search on Github and filter by language, then sort by popularity.
Here is an example search to get you started, for "calendar":
https://github.com/search?l=Objective-C&o=desc&q=calendar&ref=cmdform&s=stars&type=Repositories
A few promising candidates from that search:
https://github.com/leverdeterre/CalendarIOS7
https://github.com/fggeraissate/FFCalendar
https://github.com/square/objc-TimesSquare
https://github.com/jaykz52/CKCalendar
https://github.com/min/MNCalendarView
There are tons of these, all slightly different, so you'll need to do some digging to find one that is most similar to what you want to accomplish.
In general, any implementation you find or create yourself should probably use a UICollectionView to accomplish this.

How to implement Pivot control for iOS?

I just love the pivot control design in windows mobile. I would love to implement similar kind of design in my application, just like Skype app for iOS (PFA screenshot below). I did look up to check whether is there any libraries in github to do this. But I didn't find one. So please give me a head start on how can this be achieved. Thanks in advance.
I tried to use the UISegmentedControl and UIScrolllview together to get the look and feel of the Pivot control. But the solution I came up with was little clumsy and cranky and wasn't smooth at all.
But when I was browsing github again to find whether there is any existing solution for this I came across this library PageMenu. This is the closest solution I could find, using which you can get the look and feel of Pivot control. Take a look at the attached screenshot.
I had to do lot of look up to get this library, so I hope this may come in handy if someone who is looking for a similar kind of design. Hope this helps :)

Best way to graph some data

I am wanting to display a line graph with details containing wind speed/gust/lulls etc for out local club paragliding app I am making. wondering what the best way to go about it with is?
The current data is just on the web so something similar that I can pinch zoom maybe:
http://www.acthpa.org/wind/
Willy weather has an awesome app that display very nicely, anyone know what they might have used to make it so? the web is very similar to their iPHone app:
http://wind.willyweather.com.au/vic/western-district/wild-dog-beach.html
after looking around at various 3rd party's, i'm using Core Plot :-)
I've put together a really simple class for displaying line graphs, check it out at https://github.com/johnyorke/JYGraphViewController
Perhaps rotate the phone for the graph view then swipe up and down to go between the different metrics you wish to show?
There are various third party graphing libraries for iOS. I looked into CorePlot a while back, but did not end up needing it. It looked full-featured, although I've seen posts that it is rather complex and involved to use.

drag and drop with easeljs

I apologize that is isn't strictly a coding question. Has anyone come across a good BASIC tutorial explaining how to drag things in Easeljs? I've been experimenting with jQuery Mobile and the 'touch punch' plugin in the DOM for an app I'm developing and it works great. All devices, all browsers. But i recently read that phonegap totally sucks so I'm trying to get the same effects in Canvas for Cocoonjs.
But I can't seem to get anything working in Canvas. I've scoured the web and it seems everyone just reuses Easeljs' daisy example.
Has anyone found a good, simple, clear example without all the extra BS?
Thanks in advance. And again I apologize this isn't a coding question.
If I'm getting this correctly, you are trying to use jQuery for Drag&Drop on canvas?
If that is the case, then the simple answer is: It's not possible. (at least not out of the box, and making this work would take way too much effort and would make no sense)
Other than that you have pretty much answered your question yourself, the EaselJS Daisy DragAndDrop Example from here: https://github.com/CreateJS/EaselJS/tree/master/examples already is like a perfect example - unfortunately it won't get much simpler than that.

MS Excel type spreadsheet creation using objective-c for iOS app

I have a sample iOS app that generates multiple reports using data in the app.
Those reports looks exactly similar to Microsoft Excel spreadsheets like this.
How can I generate the similar using objective-c. I don't have any idea about how can I create the such grid-view. Do we have any objective-c supported framework or anyhting similar to UITableView to create such spreadsheet.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have never seen anything like this open source, and I don't think there is. So I would try to hand make it. I think there are three ways to go:
HTML: This should be the easier way to go. Using a UIWebView to render some pre generated HTML/CSS you can create quite easily that spreadsheet (or even use a JS library).
Using a grid view: Either using the Apple solution (UICollectionView, since iOS 6.0) or a third party (AQGridView,GMGridView, etc. There are several, I have only used AQGridView, and its quite complete). The complexity here, is that this libraries are usually developed to show a grid of UIViews, so it's no easy to make them look like the spreadsheet you want.
CoreGraphics: This is much more complex, as you need to draw all the lines, and then draw the fields, but is by far more flexible. I've developed a library for plotting a Radar Chart (RPRadarChart) using Core Graphics, and it wasn't that hard. I have a github repo with all the code that I used to learn Core Graphics, if you want, take a look at it: RPCGSandbox
Good luck, and if you find a better solution, please let us know.
I was looking for a different solution to this issue, but so far I've found:
https://github.com/mochidev/MDSpreadView
Looks like a spreadsheet, and has a similar interface to what a UITableView uses. I was looking for an alternative because the MDSpreadView doesn't use ARC, has a couple compiler warnings, and when I created a library project for it, I noticed it uses lots of images which do not get copied over by default.
You might want to dig deep into UICollectionView, UICollectionViewFlowLayout and also it would be worth looking into AutoLayout Constraints in iOS6. A helpful link : http://www.raywenderlich.com/20881/beginning-auto-layout-part-1-of-2
Use multiple tables as columns and when one scroll you scroll the rest of them as well. I create a grid using that and it was efficient to around 10000 rows and 20 columns. If you want i can guide you how will it be done.

Creating own iOS-controls with Flex

I was looking into creating iOS-apps (especially for the iPad) with the Adobe-Flex framework. It looks very promising to code apps this way.
Is it possible to create own controls/widgets? In the far future I might want to create my own kind of gantt-calender or whatever. Is something like this possible and are there any good tutorials/book out there?
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I want to create iOS Components that I can use in Flex. Controls, that are not aviable by default in Flex. Is that possible? By derivating or something?
UPDATE 2: In the meanwhile I found FlexLib to be useful. How hard is it to create stuff like this on your own? Especially for mobile devices. Are there any good tutorials, books, etc. out there?
Yes, you can create your own Controls in Flex. They are commonly called Components. I suggest you start by reading the Flex Docs on how to do so. There are also plenty of other resources out there. One is a screencast series that I created for The Flex Show. Here is episode 1.
You had asked:
How hard is it to create stuff like this on your own?
It depends on what the component wants to do. The commercial components we've built at www.flextras.com have taken from three to twelve months to build. Our Calendar is built from scratch, but most of the other components extend existing Flex Framework components.
The Flextras stuff are architected for reuse. A "single use" component for a specific app can be built in 1 hour [and up].
Once again, the purpose of a component will affect how long it takes to build.
#chiffre
Ok, maybe I am guessing wrong but "iOS controls" makes me think not to "flex controls".
Anyway with Flex 4.5.1 you can add any controls you want, the only thing that you must count (and this counts a lot) is performance.
Read especially about item renderers since scrolling list is not so fast on iOS and how you can make use of cacheAsBitmap.
Also keep in mind to always use light controls when needed if not extend base controls like UIComponent or Sprite and not Button if you just need a rectangle.
