I was wondering if anyone could point me to any useful tutorials on allowing a master user to update information for their app. I am looking into creating an application for a local restaurant and I want the owner to be able to update information like the soup of the day and such by themselves.
I have been looking into JSON and CMS for this, but I am unable to find any useful information regarding iOS 8 or xCode 6. If anyone could provide me with this information, or any other suggestions on how to achieve this I would be very grateful!
(I am using Swift not Objective-C)
This is not a code issue, rather it is a development concept issue. You have many choices including making an API that is updated by the restaurant. The app then connects to the API and gets the recipes. If you feel you need to do this via the App make a special username that is allowed access to modify the menu. This can be accomplished via matching username exactly or via using a regex. It all really depends on the structure of your app platform.
I have a task to implement but after some thought I don't really know from where to begin.
What I need to achieve:
Lets take as example BestBay web site. From my app I would like to create a certain query which will go/use to BestBay search type what I need and bring me the result. On my device I would like to show it as 10 views of the first items the website returned. For instance if I type "tvs" I will get a list of tvs so I would like to show this list on my device with the price and the link to the item (at least for the 10 first items).
I have experience with native apps(i didn't worked with web apps).
I can't use Best buy api.
I am not sure from where to begin.
I read about YQL.
I thought maybe to use the web page with the results as html and parse it to the objects I need.
Did anyone do something similar and can give me some starting point.
How to approach this kind of problem.
(tutorials/documentations/sample code something that can help me to start).
Tnx a lot.
In the end I decided to do it by HTML parsing:

I am using Version 4.4.1.0 of O2S.Components.PDF4NET
I am using this in an MVC project to run through a series of 6 views and fill an object with the data required for the PDF.
When the PDF is bound and emailed in the last step it works great. all except for when it is viewed by default PDF reader on iOS devices.
My company purchased this product on the cheaper plan so the 90 support is over and I cannot access any sort of forums from there site.
I read a similar issue regarding a button not being displayed on iOS but there was no resolution other then to email the company.
I hope that there is a viable solution as I would prefer not to have to cut my losses and change to a different product over something as short sighted as not supporting/testing against one of the more common platforms people use to consume media.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'bound content' but I assume you are talking about form fields.
Forms fields and annotations are not displayed by the CGPDF API in iOS, only the main page content is displayed. It is not a limitation of PDF4NET, it is a limitation of the iOS PDF display engine. The workaround is to flatten the form fields thus making them part of the page content.
If this is not your situation, please send a mail to support and they will help you.
Disclaimer: I work for the company that develops PDF4NET.
I have already watched Apples's WWDC 2010 video of Building a Server-driven User Experience.
It is really a great concept but i need a simple example or tutorial to start with.
I have searched hours in Google for iOS Dynamic UI generation from XML or JSON based web services but didn't find anything useful so far.
More Information:
I am developing an iPhone application where i present user a Input Form like questionnaire with different types of question with different UI Controls to answer like Text Field, switches, image, audio, video etc.
Now I have different questionnaire for different user, I want to generate them dynamically and also store completed form in Core Data.
Any help or guidance to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx
have you seen heroku's Core Data Buildpack video?

so basically I'm trying to display the latest tweets from 5-10 different sources/twitter accounts in a new application I'm trying to make.
Similarly the way tweetro/metrotwit retrieve and display tweets in the application. But on a much smaller scale.
Any ideas on how this could be done?
Would be much appreciated.
Duncan
Simply use the Twitter API to send a Web Service Request accessing those specific tweets in a data friendly format like XML or text. Then simply bind that data to a ListView or whatever pleases you.
