I'm trying to access the beta version of 7.1 but there are 2 version for the 3rd Gen iPad with 3G. One is for AT&T, the other is for Verizon... but my iPad is UK version and as far as I know is neither of these.
Anyone know which I should download?
I did find this out months ago but it took for ever and I have lost my notes (and memory apparently).
Thanks
Rob

First: Wifi only
Second: Cellular with SIM card slot
Third: Cellular without SIM card slot
But this question is really an off topic and could be easily done our good old friend, Google.

According to this page there is no European version available for 3rd Generation iPad. The only ones available are iPad with retina display (3rd Generation) model A1430 which is for I believe a United States and Canada model number and iPad with Retina display (3rd Generation) Model A1403 which is United States model as well. If your model number matches A1430 or A1403 (Which I don't it will) you can try one of them or you could risk using the Wifi only version (Which doesn't seem to be in that list which models it will work on) but here is the download dmg (This may expire)

As confirmed by Nokia, the old phone is returning with new hardware.
Will we be able to easily develop anything for the beloved phone?
I can’t speak for the 2G version, but the new Nokia 3310 3G does appear to support some J2ME apps. I was able to install the last release of the Google Maps app, a weather app, and an email app that actually appears on the Opera Mini store. Some jads do say they’re not supported (Note Plus 4) and one had the character sets all messed up (Anyview EBook reader).
EDIT: I confirmed that I was able to side load an (untrusted) app I developed (a very long time ago) using Java 2 Micro Edition SDK.
It was also my first question that came to mind after the unveiling of the new 3310. I was hoping for a nostalgic throwback to mobile java apps.
However, it seems like the OS (s30+) doesn't support J2ME, so definitely no third-party java apps. I guess there might be a slim chance they'd add some kind of app store by the time they release the new 3310, in which case you could develop apps in MRE SDK (maui runtime environment). If I'm not mistaken MRE is in C.

I have 3 heos speakers in my house and a 4th wireless (wifi) speaker that I built myself. I was wondering if anyone else has tried tinkering around with the heos app to make it detect other wifi speakers and play music to them?
I tried using dlna to get my logitech/squeeze boxes and heos speakers to play the same music, which worked but there was a significant delay between the two systems that I couldn't correct with the squeezebox software settings.
Right now the only way to hook up to existing speakers is with a HEOS Link, but that is a pretty large and costly device. It would be great if Denon created a playback-only HEOS dongle that with a line out--call it a Linklite. It wouldn't necessarily need to be able to do everything a normal HEOS device does, at a minimum it would just play what is played to your other HEOS device(s). But nearly all wifi speakers have a line-in jack, even Sonos. It would be kind of cool to be able to easily add third party components in this way.
Wishful thinking: if HEOS becomes a more popular home entertainment operating system, perhaps vendors of the other products will embed the software required to be compatible with HEOS.

I have created an application that works on Mac Os X that displays an HTML5 program in JQuery Mobile that I programmed using Fluid. I would like to program another version of this application that works on iPhone and, if possible, other iOS devices. I am trying to download Xcode, but the file is so large that my browser first says that it is going to take 14 days, then it just says "Cancled." And yes, I have tryed it with a stronger WiFi conection, the same thing happened. I heard that Apple start-up discs have Xcode on them, but I can't find any of them. Is there a substitution for Xcode that you can use to program iOS devices?
There is no substitute. Have you tried downloading it via the App Store?

I like the redesigned version of Evernote and want to install it on my iPod touch 4th gen. with iOS 6.1.3. I opened up its plist file, looked for any parameter that would relate to iOS version restriction but I couldn't find any.
Does anyone know where/how I can edit the source code so I can use it on my iPod touch?
You can't just edit the minimum OS version and expect it to work. There are several problems with that.
The app bundle is read-only, and code-signed. Any changes to it and it won't run. You could probably solve #1 on a jailbroken phone.
App developers tend to use OS features and APIs from the minimum OS version without any runtime testing that those features are available, because the system is supposed to prevent the app from running on earlier OS versions. If you defeat the minimum OS check and the developer uses a class or method that is not in the older OS, the app will crash.

I've spent a whole day trying the different solutions one can find by Google-ing this.
Using Xcode to downgrade
Downloading the firmware image and providing it to Xcode
Using iTunes
Using an old computer that the phone was sync'ed to back in 2009 (funny enough, I have two of them)
Using the iRestore and libusb
So far the only thing I've seen is the phone getting stuck in DFU mode or a message saying that it can't be downgraded (I forget the exact language).
It would seem that Apple would provide for a way for developers to do this sort of thing without this much pain an agony. I have eight iOS devices, four of which are permanently devoted to development, two iPods and two iPhone 3GS. The two iPods stayed with iOS 4.x. Both 3GS's where accidentally upgraded to iOS 5. I wanted one to stay with 4.x for the time being.
Do I have any options beyond what I've tried?
Apple: A little developer love would go a long way here. It's enough to have to deal with all the stuff that breaks from release to release of the OS and Xcode. At least make this easy.
Pretty please?
With sugar on top?

According to the FAQ:
"Stack Overflow is for professional and enthusiast programmers, people who write code because they love it. We feel the best Stack Overflow questions have a bit of source code in them, but if your question generally covers …
a specific programming problem
a software algorithm
software tools commonly used by programmers
practical, answerable problems that are unique to the programming profession
… then you’re in the right place to ask your question!"
This question relates to software tools commonly used by programmers working on iOS devices.
And, in fact, it is a huge problem due to the fact that it impedes proper testing on the platform. Perhaps someone in this community has better ideas that can be brought to the surface. That was the intent.
"Questions on Stack Overflow are expected to generally relate to programming or software development in some way"
I think this question definitely relates to software development.
Re-open it please. This is a big problem.
