What are the two versions of Safari called?
What are the difference in terms of development?
Since both the iPad 2 and the 3rd gen iPad are actively supported by Apple, they use the same default browser - Mobile Safari 6.

I just posted my first application on Apple store. It is for iPads only, so I chose that in xCode.
It works good on iPad 3 and newer, but crashes on iPad 1 and iPad 2.
On this site I found out that iPad 1 "auto-focus-camera" and "bluetooth-le", but I think that it's not a good practice to state that my app requires auto-focus-camera, when it actually doesn't.

So how can I exclude iPad 1 and iPad 2 from supported devices?
We are working on a kids app similar to Talking Ben app. It has lots of JPEG image sequences in it for interactive animations.
The thing is the animations are playing fine on iPad Air but they are playing slow or lagging on iPad 2. This is obviously due to the 512 MB RAM in iPad 2.
My question is can we mention in the app description something like - "Recommended devices iPad 3 or later" so that users dont download it on iPad 2 ?
Or can we straight away submit app for only iPad 3 or later devices ?
Whats the legal method for this ?
In short, I want to restrict my app to be downloaded in iPad 2.
Please help guys.
Thanks
Not too familiar with specifically what architecture is used on the iPad 2, but this post may help you with regards to making sure the app is only compatible with certain architectures: Restricting app installations from AppStore only to users with iPhone 5/5s/5c
You should set bluetooth-le as a requirement in your app Required device capabilities in your info.plist.
This should prohibit your app from being installed on iPad 2 as Bluetooth-LE (bluetooth 4.0) is available only since iPad 3rd generation (see here).
I'm almost ready to launch my app on the store. But i found some issues with the display of components on an iPad Mini. It all works on a regular ipad and a ipad retina.
Simple question, is there any way to simulate the app on an iPad Mini (or more devices from Apple) with FlashBuilder?
Info app:
- Flex mobile project
- made in FlashBuilder
The best way is to download Xcode and use it's simulator. It is much more like the actual device than Air simulation. This became available in FlashBuilder 4.7 from the Run Configurations. I believe it may have been available in FB 4.6 from adl as well.
I'm having difficulty inspecting web pages on mobile Safari.
I'm using an iPhone 5S with the latest version of iOS 7 and the Safari nightly builds on Mac. I've also got the relevant options turned on for the iPhone and desktop Safari but my device never appears in the Develop option in Safari.
Has this feature been removed in iOS 7 or am I going mad?
Update: Furthermore, this seems to work fine with an iPad running iOS 7 so I've ruled out the version of iOS. And I've tried it with two different devices (both same spec, 5S) which don't work
Just saw wiki article "ios version history", which says that ios 5 is compatible with iPhone 3GS and greater devices. Does iPhone 3GS, iPad 1 and 2 really support storyboards and new components of iOS 5? or do they require a software update for being compatible with iOS 5?
ios 5 is compatible with iPhone 3GS and greater devices
Means that users can update these devices to run iOS 5. They have to do the update for you to be able to use story board and other new features. But if they are still running iOS 4 or older versions, you can't.
Don't mix operating system with hardware. iPhone 3GS supports storyboard ONLY if it's running iOS5, otherwise not.
There can be some hardware related differences even if all devices use same iOS version, for example iPad without SIM card cannot make phone calls. Storyboard is not such a thing.
