I have an .il file which I can compile without any problems. I can strong name it and so without any issues. But I am not able to set the file version via the attribute as I would expect it. How can I set the FileVersion for an assembly when using ilasm?
If I do a round trip I get always a .res file which does contain only binary data which is not readable. What is inside this res file and can I edit it?

The issue can be solved by using the .res file. It is not sufficient to do a round trip with ildasm and ilasm. The IL file does not reference the .res file. I had to add it to the ilasm call manually. The data in the res file seemed to contain the infos which are written into the PE header which is ok for me.
The final command line needed was
ilasm test.il /dll /res:test.res
I still do not know what exactly is inside the res file but I can exhange it with the meta data information of any other assemlby that I create manually and then decompile it to replace the metadata of the original assembly as I need.
It seems not many people are doing such stuff.

I used the TZipFile.Read method to reads a file from a .zip archive .
This method returns the complete content of file into a buffer of type TByte. But just need to read a 1MB file from the beginning, not the complete file.
After reading and analyzing a 1MB file, if needed, should be read complete file and make changes to the file and re-save the file to archive.
Memory and speed of the program is very important. I used to set the buffer size of the function SetLength, unfortunately complete content of file files are stored in the buffer.

Use the overloaded version of TZipFile.Read() that returns a TStream instead of a TBytes. That way, you do not have to read the entire file into memory, and can read just its beginning bytes as needed.
Unfortunately, there is no way to modify data inside of a zip archive using TZipFile. Although you can Extract() a particular file, modify it externally as needed, and then Add() it back into TZipFile, there is no way to remove/replace a given file in TZipFile. TZipFile is a simple framework, it can only read a zip archive and add new files to it, nothing else. If you need more control over a zip archive, you are better off using a more complete third-party solution, such as ZipForge.
I like to find all .js file (for example sss.js) and file without file type (the extension, the suffix, the file type after .dot)

Your res folder has to be inside src folder to be accessed from your code.
src folder is the root folder of your project package. And all folders outside of src folder are invisible for the code at runtime.

You actually do not need to put your resources under the src folder for them to be accessible from your code.
That is one way to do it, but I don't think it's the best way. Files under the src folder should really be source code, not images, or other resources. For JavaScript resources, it's debatable whether those should be under src or not. Most projects I've seen have used the src folder for only Java source code.
In any case, if you would like to keep your file (or other resources, like images) outside the src folder, you can do so. The BlackBerry plugin for Eclipse actually sets it up like this by default, when you create a new project. There is a res folder at the top level, next to (not under) src.

I'm looking for a ready-to-use piece of code that would be able to read and modify Delphi .res files. The thing is that I need to create an application that will be compiling many Delphi projects at once (using the dcc32.exe file). However, it is necessary for me to change file version and language before compilation, and as far as I know, I have to modify the .res file to do that.
Have you come across any code that would give me an interface to .res files allowing me to modify the data contained in it? The thing is that I want to change only those two pieces of information keeping the rest unchanged. This is why I can't compile my own .res file based on a script.
An application executed from a command line would also be OK if it allows to be called with parameters and does what I need it to do.

If all you need is to add file version resource then create appver.rc file, compile it with brcc32 and in one of your app unit (for example appver.pas) add {$R appver.res} (as Marian noticed you must turn off Delphi project option to include version info).
I created command line programs that increase build numbers in .rc file, create new branch/tag in SVN with new version in branch name, compiles .rc to .res, and build application.

It is our utility which reads .RC file with version information and increments build number. We use it inside our build process. Here is an excerpt:

This one very simple thing I can't find the right technique. What I want is to open a .dotx template, make some changes and save as the same name but .docx extension. I can save a WordprocessingDocument but only to the place it's loaded from. I've tried manually constructing a new document using the WordprocessingDocument with changes made but nothing's worked so far, I tried MainDocumentPart.Document.WriteTo(XmlWriter.Create(targetPath)); and just got an empty file.
What's the right way here? Is a .dotx file special at all or just another document as far as the SDK is concerned - should i simply copy the template to the destination and then open that and make changes, and save? I did have some concerns if my app is called from two clients at once, if it can open the same .dotx file twice... in this case creating a copy would be sensible anyway... but for my own curiosity I still want to know how to do "Save As".
I would suggest just using File.IO to copy the dotx file to a docx file and make your changes there, if that works for your situation. There's also a ChangeDocumentType function you'll have to call to prevent an error in the new docx file.

Read the template or document into a MemoryStream.
Within a using statement:
open the template or document on the MemoryStream.
If you opened a template (.dotx) and you want to store it as a document (.docx), you must change the document type to WordprocessingDocumentType.Document. Otherwise, Word will complain when you try to open the document.
Manipulate your document.
Write the contents of the MemoryStream to a file.
For the first step, we can use the following method, which reads a file into a MemoryStream:
