How to Learn Canvas / ActionScript? - actionscript

I want to learn to program the canvas element. Anyone got any recommendations of websites / books?

As far as I know, Flash does not have anything to do with <canvas> so you would be using Javascript, not Actionscript.

Can augmented reality be realized in a website?

Nowadays, I wanna do some research of augmented reality technology.Especially, I would like to match a 2d image and a 3d model.And then, I will see the 3d model if scanning the 2d image. What's more, I know that there are a lot of SDKs(like metaio,and wikitude) and software can realize this in mobile app. However, what I want to do is realizing this in a website. I hope the people who use this don't need to download a particular mobile app, but just open a website and then scan a picture.
So, until now, I's like to know that,as the tile asked, can AR be realized in a website? If yes, how can I do it or is there any software like Metaio Creator to do this? If no, why?

The cv feature tracking you requested can not yet be realized without any apps/browser. But what you can do is realizing perspectively correct displaying 3D elements into the camera image and move with sensors. Should be as performant as within the player app.

drag and drop with easeljs

I apologize that is isn't strictly a coding question. Has anyone come across a good BASIC tutorial explaining how to drag things in Easeljs? I've been experimenting with jQuery Mobile and the 'touch punch' plugin in the DOM for an app I'm developing and it works great. All devices, all browsers. But i recently read that phonegap totally sucks so I'm trying to get the same effects in Canvas for Cocoonjs.
But I can't seem to get anything working in Canvas. I've scoured the web and it seems everyone just reuses Easeljs' daisy example.
Has anyone found a good, simple, clear example without all the extra BS?

If I'm getting this correctly, you are trying to use jQuery for Drag&Drop on canvas?
If that is the case, then the simple answer is: It's not possible. (at least not out of the box, and making this work would take way too much effort and would make no sense)
Other than that you have pretty much answered your question yourself, the EaselJS Daisy DragAndDrop Example from here: https://github.com/CreateJS/EaselJS/tree/master/examples already is like a perfect example - unfortunately it won't get much simpler than that.

How to compare a webcam image/video to a specific image/video?

I am basically just starting out in computer programming; mostly fluent in basic Java. I have an idea of creating an ASL (American Sign Language) to English, and my initial problem is how to identify hand movement from a webcam then comparing them to Signs that is already stored as an image or another video. If the problem is a bit too advanced for me then please list any major concepts that I can learn. Please and thank you.
You clearly have a challenging problem ^^. Try to explain all you need to solve your problem would be very hard, mainly because there many ways to do this. I advice you to read a nice book about image processing (Gonzalez' book is a nice choice) and the OpenCV documentation (but it is implemented in C, C++ and has Python bindings; although it's a library that implements a lot of image processing techniques). Maybe you should focus your study on feature detection, motion analysis and object tracking. As sign language uses not just hand sign (static state) but also hand moviments (dynamic state) to express something, object tracking may be a good way to describe the signs.I hope these informations help you, at least a little -^.^- Bye bye.

Game Development in Delphi

I would like to have a go at making some simple games for personal/learning purposes. By simple games I mean games like platform, maze, arcade games for example. I would also one day like to create a platform game with a simple editor to allow others to edit and design their own game levels.
I am not sure if Delphi is the way to go though, I don't see or hear many people writing games in Delphi, but Delphi is the only language I understand on an intermediate level.
If Delphi is acceptable to create simple games as I mentioned, am I right in thinking that I would require some libraries that would help me do this, maybe Direct X for example?
I am using Delphi XE, I wish I had waited and upgraded to Delphi XE2 instead as it seems that includes some built in Drawing libraries.

Any Resources for Pure Actionscript 3 Games?

What resources (books or website/tutorials) are available, that cover game development using pure Actionscript 3 code? By pure, I mean not using Flash CS4 and its timeline, and not using Flex MXML components. Everything done using only Actionscript code.
In another question, I asked about using certain objects of the Flex SDK for simple games, and the consensus was that I shouldn't use it at all, but only Actionscript for a game. Sounds reasonable, but the books/website tutorials that I have found on the subject of games, all use AS3 in the context of Flash CS4. They assume your objects will be movieclips, with timelines, etc.
I realize that you can learn game programming from books in other languages, and/or ignore the Flash aspect of AS3 books. I guess what I'm looking for, is whatever information is specific to AS3, such as best practices for AS3-only games, how to make architectural/design decisions, etc. If it exists, anyway :)

A site that is basically all about using just pure AS3 and that now has game tutorials centered around his pure AS3 game making library is www.actiontad.com.
Your games may be smaller using only AS3 and the SDK, but you loose the ability to animate with a timeline, animations made with the timeline in Flash will perform better, than say sticking a whole bunch of .pngs together, which is a technique actiontad uses, but that site is coming into it's own now with the library he recently released, if pure AS3 game making is your thing it's worth a look.
If you want to deploy your games on mobile (iOS/Android) you should take advantage of Starling (http://gamua.com/starling/), 2D rendering engine built on top of Stage3D, which gives you GPU raw power.
