Google Sheets: "Text to Columns", but in single column? - google-sheets

I have a huge data file. Each line may contain one or more entries separated by a pipe:
one|two|three
alpha
uno|dos
beta
gamma
I can use "Text to Columns" to remove the | and put each entry in its own column:
one two three
alpha
uno dos
beta
gamma
But my desired result is to have all items in a single column:
one
alpha
uno
beta
gamma
two
three
dos
How can I easily get all entries into a single column? (order does NOT matter)

try:

Assume Range A1:A5 is your data
=TRANSPOSE(SPLIT(JOIN("|",A1:A5),"|"))
JOIN them to add "|" to all of them first
then SPLIT text that has "|" to be 1 row, many columns
then TRANSPOSE to get just one column going
This is the basic one I can think of, anyways there are a lot of ways to do this

Unnest two columns in google sheet

I have a table like this one here (basically it's data from a google form with multiple choice answers in column A and B and non-muliple choice data in column C) I need a separate row for each multiple choice answer.

I tried to un-nest the first column and keep the remaining columns like this

I tried several approaches I found with flatten and split with array formulas but I don't know where to start really.
Any help or hint would be much appreciated!
You can use the split function on the column A and after that, use the index function. Considering the table, you can use:
=index(split(A2,","),1,1)
The split function separate the text using the delimiter indicated, returning an array with 1 line and 2 columns; the index function will return the first line and the first column from this array. To return the second element from the column A, just change to
=index(split(A2,","),1,2)
I think there's no easy solution for this. You're asking for as many combinations of elements as multiple-choice elections have been made. Any function in Google Sheets has its potentials and limitations about how many elements it can express. One very useful formula here is REDUCE. With REDUCE and sequences of elements separated by commas counted with COUNTA, you can stablish this formula:

Since I had to use a "initial value" in every REDUCE, I then used QUERY to filter the empty values:

I have a quite complext formula (i mean that is complex to me) that Tom Sharpe helped me building to aggregate values and ordering them by months in a row(you can find the details in the original post but i think you'll only need the final formula which is:

Now, what i would need to do as the final step is to be able to group data by a certain label (John or Jane in the example) on separate rows, but mantaining the order/aggregate by month on the row. On the example, this would mean having one row with only 'John' data and below, one with 'Jane' values.
I am struggling to understand how to adapt the formula to do so.
I have tried:
Using another array to first return a list of these labels with query(unique()) or something like that, but then i struggle looping in it with the other formula.
A bit more simplistic but it could work after all: on the 1st row (the cell next to where the data will be returned) writing 'John', on row 2 'Jane' and then using filter() to only pull data that matches. The 'John, Jane' value is for the example but the real labels won't be that many, the list of labels don't need to be dynamic.
The thing with these solutions is that they work when used separately, but i can't figure out how to nest this in the first arrayformula() that Tom helped me with...As i am just beginning with the google sheets queries.
I don't really need necessarily the complete formula/code but maybe just directions or tips to visualize the way i could solve this.

With hindsight I might have done better to go down the route of using a query to calculate the sums on my previous answer rather than Mmult.
This uses the same method as before to create a 2d array of amounts vs dates (going across) and individuals (going down). Then it uses Textjoin to generate a query to group by name with the required number of columns.

How can I generate a three column list of unique "combos"?

I have three columns of information. For example: color, model, year.
Can I use the "unique" instruction to generate in three new columns each unique combination for color, model, year, each in one column?
ex.
color model year
red sedan 2016
red sedan 2020
black truck 2018

Suppose your three headers are in A1, B1 and C1 with your data running A2:C. And suppose you want the unique combinations in E:G. First, be sure that the entire range E:G is empty. Then place the following formula in E1:

The formula first reproduces the headers from A1:C1.
The combinations are formed by first concatenating each UNIQUE model (from a list that is FILTERed to remove blanks) with each UNIQUE year (from a list that is also FILTERed to remove blanks), with a pipe symbol between each as a separator that SPLIT will later use.
That grid of combinations is FLATTENed into a single column and then concatenated once more with a UNIQUE and FILTERed list of the colors leading off, and again with a pipe symbol as a separator. Once more, the entire grid of results is FLATTENed into a single column.
Finally, SPLIT acts on the pipe symbols to separate the three pieces into their own columns under the headers.

the task is simple: take column A and combine it with transposed column B. flatten the output in one single column and combine it with transposed column C and again flatten it into one single column. then split it and query out all combinations that have less than 3 columns. next, run it through unique to remove duplicates.

Display the multiple values from a drop down

here i have a sheet, in that we can find the sum of diff categories using query function by selecting from drop down list. but here I can select one month only at a time can i find the amount of January and February at the same time by adding another column for another month or in any other way. here I can find the sales of one month at a time. I want to find sales of two or three months at time.

There's no way you can make a drop down list with multiple choice in Google Sheets.
But there are some alternatives.
List of tick boxes (here as list of months)
Manual input of multiple values separated by comma or something else.
I give both:
Months are selected as list separated by | so it can be used as regex inside 'matches' clause in query
This generates list of months:
=join("|",query({A2:B7;C2:D7},"select Col2 where Col1 = true "))
Window with manual input works similar way
=substitute(substitute(F3,", ",","),",","|")
It takes its contents, removes spaces that are adjacent to comma, adds separator | instead of comma. It's case sensitive and I don't know how to get rid of this (?i) does not work within query.
All together it looks like on the picture and combined formula is:

I copied your spreadsheet to do my testing. Here's what you can do.
Add another row of the same exact selection found on your "A" row.
Change your formula to this: ={query(ORDERS!A1:R,"Select * where A contains '"&$A2&"' and B contains '"&$B2&"'",1);query(ORDERS!A1:R,"Select * where A contains '"&$A3&"' and B contains '"&$B3&"'",0)}
What this does it run an array of two sets of formulas (In this case 2 queries) for the same set of data.

Transpose column and add separator column

I'm trying to transpose a column from one sheet into a row of another sheet with a new blank column separating each result
=TRANSPOSE(Sheet1!A1:A30)
Whats the easist way to achieve this without having to add a blank row between each of the rows in the orginal sheet

I like the solution because it is simple.
More general question would be:
How to add N extra separator columns with a formula
Here's the formula:
=TRANSPOSE(SPLIT(JOIN("|"&rept("|",1),A1:A30),"|",1,0))
where
"|" is a rare char you do not have in your dataset
rept("|",1) is to get N separator columns. Change 1 to N.
The only problem with the formula is join function limit on 50000 characters.
The final function won't give the error with a large dataset.
Please try:
=TRANSPOSE(ArrayFormula(TRIM(SPLIT(QUERY(A1:A30&"|"&rept("|",1),,2^99),"|",1,0))))
query replaces join and have no limits
trim is needed because query creates spaces at the end of each line.
Going further in depth on the issue above (question):
What would you write if you want a certain text for each new column:
E.g. I have several datasets (columns) with 1) drilling resistance and 2) associated depths, all of which I will extract from another sheet into this new one.
I have a list of boreholenames which I will transpose and insert as text over the columns with 1).
Then I want to add a column for each borehole with the height (2). How do I then automatize adding text for each new column with the writing "height (m.a.s.l.) boreholenumber", where the latter could be just picked from the borehole name list.
And by the way. The split function doesn't exist in my excel-program :( How to I get it?
