jenkins not able to find virtualenv - jenkins

I want to activate my virtualenv via jenkins. But I am facing problems in that.
Here are the commands,
cd /home/luvpreet/Desktop/vogo/influxdata
source /usr/local/bin/virtualenvwrapper.sh
workon influxdata
./manage.py test
And I am getting this error,
+ echo 'ERROR: Environment '\''influxdata'\'' does not exist. Create it with '\''mkvirtualenv influxdata'\''.'
ERROR: Environment 'influxdata' does not exist. Create it with 'mkvirtualenv influxdata'.
+ return 1
The shell executable is /bin/bash
It is saying that influxdata virtualenv does not exist, but it does.
Why it is showing this ? How can I run my virtualenv ?

Got the answer,
As jenkins user home folder is /var/lib/jenkins,
so, it was looking at /var/lib/jenkins/.virtualenvs instead of other users home directory.
So, firstly I changed directory to the hme folder of other user and then activated my existing virtualenv.
cd /home/luvpreet/
cd .virtualenvs/influxdata/bin
source activate

pytest' is not recognized as an internal or external command, while executing through jenkins job

I am trying to run python test through jenkins. I have pytest framework.
I have also installed python 3.8 on jenkins slave machine and set path in the environment variables
I have added below path under PATH section of environment variable as below
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python38-32\Scripts
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python38-32
But still I am getting below error on while running job.
Below are my windows batch command to run from Jenkins:
echo '#### Create Virtual Environment ####'
python -m venv .UIAutomation/venv
echo '#### Activate Virtual Environment ####'
echo '#### Run tests ####'
pytest -s -v --alluredir=.UIAutomation/reports ./UIAutomation/tests --env=staging --browser=chrome
Please help
More details about console error :
warning: manifest_maker: standard file '-c' not found
12:04:12 Error: pg_config executable not found.
pg_config is required to build psycopg2 from source. Please add the directory
Note:
Below is my first requirement from file
Collecting psycopg2==2.8.6 (from -r ./UIAutomation/requirements.txt
So after execution I am seeing below error at first line of console-
12:04:12 Error: pg_config executable not found.
12:04:12 pg_config is required to build psycopg2 from source. Please add the directory
From what I see, I find the batch call suspicious.
I think call launches a new console and returns to the script, if its done. So in your case, you activate your venv in another console and then use your standard python env, not the venv and there is no pytest dependency installed.
See also: https://ss64.com/nt/call.html
I had a similiar problem in a yaml script I wrote for Azure DevOps.
I did solve that, with creating the venv and then adding the venv path to the environment variables.

Jenkins/Robot Framework - looking for chromedriver but I think it's in PATH

Hey in Jenkins I'm trying to run robot framework tests:
with command python3 robot -d results mytestsuite.robot, and it has some line to open chrome browser, but the message in log shows me typical: WebDriverException: Message: 'chromedriver' executable needs to be in PATH. Please see...
Everything works ok locally, and I'm not sure which PATH jenkins wants to use so my questions are:
why do I have to input python3 instead of python (with just python in command it tells me that robot is not found)
why chromedriver is not found, and how to set it up (in what PATH and how) to make it work
Is it possible to set jenkins up to use other drivers ex. geckodriver?
My jenkins job env looks like this:
#!/bin/bash
echo $JENKINS_HOME
which python3
echo $PATH
outputs:
/Users/MYUSER/.jenkins
/usr/bin/python3
/Users/MYUSER/.jenkins/tools/chromedriver:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin
Ok so I've fixed it with:
export PATH=/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.9/bin/:$PATH
this is the location where I have chromedriver locally.
in the build shell execute but is there a way to make it more permanent (I mean not to use it every time it runs build?)

Lumber: Command 'lumber' not found

I just setup a Rails Application in my Ubuntu 18 machine, and I want to connect it to Forest Admin. However, Forest Admin requires that I set up a Node Application using npm first. The node application requires the installation of Lumber CLI tool in order to install Forest Admin.
I have however installed Lumber CLI tool by running the command below:
npm install -g lumber-cli#latest -s
When I run the command below npm lumber -version in my command line terminal, I get the response:
6.13.4
But when I try to generate the Forest Admin using the command below:
lumber generate "my_project"...
I get the following error:
Command 'lumber' not found
I need some help. Thank you.
Here's how I solved it:
The issue is because NPM does not have the write access to the directory that will contain the package you want to install (here lumber-cli).
To solve this issue, override the default directory where your global NPM packages will be stored:
mkdir ~/.npm-global
Then, configure NPM to use this directory instead of the default one:
npm config set prefix '~/.npm-global'
Then, make the node executables accessible from your PATH. To do so, export the environment variable PATH by opening or creating the file ~/.profile and add this line at the end:
export PATH=~/.npm-global/bin:$PATH
Finally, reload the ~/.profile file:
source ~/.profile
Try installing lumber cli again using the command below:
npm install -g lumber-cli#latest -s
It should be able to install lumber without any error, and also display the directory where lumber-cli is installed.
Reference: Prevent permission errors at installation
That's all
I hope this helps

Extend $PATH variable in git bash under Windows

I'm trying to extend my $PATH variable in git bash (MinGW shell) by adding the following to the file ~/.bashrc
PATH=$PATH':/c/Program Files/maven/apache-maven-3.2.5/bin'
After I did this and restarted the bash it seems like that the $PATH variable was extended like expected:
$ echo $PATH
MANY_OTHER_PATHS:/c/Program Files/maven/apache-maven-3.2.5/bin
But I still cannot execute the programms in the given directory:
$ mvn
bash: mvn: command not found
What went wrong here? How do I extend the PATH variable correctly?
Here are two ideas.
You can have your path with double quote mark.
export PATH=$PATH:"/C/Program Files (x86)/apache-maven-3.3.3/bin"
Or, You can also make symbolic link for the directory.
ln -s "/C/Program Files (x86)/apache-maven-3.3.3/bin" ./mvnbin
export PATH=$PATH:/your-path/mvnbin
It works for me in mingw32 environment.
I needed to add something to my Git Bash path permanently each time I open it. It was Meld.exe path which can be added with:
export PATH=$PATH:"/C/Program Files (x86)/Meld/lib"
In order to execute this command each bash session, you need a ~/.bashrc file. Check if it already exists or create it using notepad ~/.bashrc or touch ~/.bashrc.
You can check where it is with:
echo ~
Open it and add the command that adds the PATH (first command in this response).
I hope you found this useful.
According to this SO post, you need to escape Program Files with quotes. git-bash $PATH cannot parse windows directory with space
Add PATH in Git Bash Permanently | Windows Only
Just in case you are still wondering how to add a path permanently in git bash here is the step-by-step process for Windows users:
Create .bashrc in user's root folder using the below command. It will open notepad and ask you to create the file, click yes.
notepad ~/.bashrc
Put the directory you want to add as below, for more than 1 items repeat the same format in next line:
export PATH=$PATH:"/c/folder/folder/"
Save the file and relaunch the bash.
Next launch will give you a warning like WARNING: Found ~/.bashrc but no ~/.bash_profile, ~/.bash_login or ~/.profile. but git bash will handle it by creating the required files.
SOME INSIGHTS
Git Bash doesn't fetch Window's environment PATH, it maintains its PATH separately in more like a Linux way.
You can run export PATH=$PATH:"/c/folder/folder/" in cmd to add a directory to path, but it will be only for the current session once you close the bash, it will be gone.
.bashrc is a shell script file that will be executed every time you launch a new git bash window. So you can add any type of bash command here. We simply added the export command to add our desired directory to PATH.

Cannot compile chaincode

I am trying to compile the chaincode_example02 followed by this guide with Option 2 (for Mac). All steps were passed except compiling the code. I have the following error:
cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/chaincode_example02
go build
chaincode_example02.go:30:2: cannot find package "github.com/hyperledger/fabric/core/chaincode/shim" in any of:
/usr/local/Cellar/go/1.7.1/libexec/src/github.com/hyperledger/fabric/core/chaincode/shim (from $GOROOT)
($GOPATH not set)
You need to prepare the fabric source as libs follow command. Make sure GOPATH had been set first.
mkdir -p $GOPATH/src/github.com/hyperledger
cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/hyperledger
git clone -b release-1.2 https://github.com/hyperledger/fabric.git
“Fabric” source code should be available locally in your GOPATH.
cd $GOPATH/src/github.com
mkdir hyperledger
cd hyperledger
git clone http://gerrit.hyperledger.org/r/fabric
As it says in the error message, your GOPATH environment variable is not set correctly.
Before doing a go build on the chaincode:
Make sure your GOPATH is set up correctly
Follow this guide
https://golang.org/doc/code.html#GOPATH )
Do echo $GOPATH to check the value of GOPATH
Make sure you have the fabric code in your GOPATH
change the import statement to github.com/hyperledger/fabric-chaincode-go/shim and use "go get github.com/hyperledger/fabric-chaincode-go/shim"
